Meet Ted

Excellent work my friend Just one problem Bud Light ! I think it's not drinking enough Fosters is where the indigestion is coming from ;)

I wish this pendemic was over and I could take you under my wing on the Fosters side :)

As far as Ted goes you can teach me a thing or two or maybe three :):):)

I've been busy fitting some of the nice cleaned, poly bushed and painted suspension bits :)

Axle stripped and painted and new brake lines made up

Not sure what happened to this:oops:

Engine and box back in

I also fitted one of these for the oil pressure gauge take off, I didn't like the T piece, it got in the way of the vac advance on the dizzy

What hasn't been replaced on the underside has been stripped, etch primed, zinc primed and then given two coats of chassis black

I thought to myself, this is getting dangerously close to prep and paint - can't be having that so I took the screen out along with the rear section of the roof hoping I'd find some nasties to delay the inevitable.

No such luck, just a couple of pin holes that were welded up, ground back and etch primed.

I stripped and checked all the wheel cylinders, I couldn't get the piston out of on of the rear ones so I made a little tool

Screwed into the cylinder and a couple of pumps with the grease gun had it out :)

S'pose I'd better start rubbing stuff down, I hate bodywork:confused:

And so to paint :D

Mostly prepped

I bought myself a decent gun as the £20 Screwfix ones I usually get are a bit temperamental

It looks very grey in the pictures but it's a much nicer blue in reality.

They are drying off just now so I need to nip back in later to clean my gun. Front wings and bonnet tomorrow :D

No it's celly. No idea what the compressor capacity is but it's has a good sized reservoir. I actually got it for free when they threw it out at work, turned out it just needed the thermal overload switch re-setting. The gun makes all the difference as it used less air than my old ones with a lot less overspray.

Only managed the bonnet today, a couple of runs but hey ho they'll rub out

Bit of a problem with some of the panels I did yesterday as there seems to have been a reaction in places and some of the paint has crazed. Bummer

That does look pretty good mate, when you said it’s a better gun with less over spray how’s that work then ?, because when I’ve done any spraying in my workshop everything else in there gets a coat as well !!!

Oh there's plenty of mist about but more actually sticks to the panel. Probably a mix of a decent gun and I've put a filter/regulator on the gun inlet to keep a constant pressure

I set it at 2 bar at the gun. I also set it at full paint flow before pressurising up by screwing the adjuster out, pull the trigger and wind the adjuster back in so you can feel it touch the trigger stop. I use a 50/50 mix paint to thinners and about a hand span spread with about a 25% overlap on the passes.
