Fitted the alternator back on and shortened the belt tensioner as it was touching the chassie leg

Put the hand brake cable back on to and it fits a treat but very close to gear linkage

I plan to fit the hand brake on the back wheels eventually so i can run discs and calipers on the front. Ive got a rover p5b back axle to if the gearing isnt right in the diff. Should be ok though as the dodge has a taller diff than the commer;)

Its going in my autosleeper, as I do the most miles in that one and the cost of petrol is starting to do my head in. So hopefully this will make driving it alot better on fuel with more power;)

Prop,s have to be angled a bit to get the UJ needle rollers to "roll" rather than skid, or they would wear out rapidly ;)
Good progress Jon [8D]

Now the fun part starts. Which fly wheel to use, which clutch plate to use, which clutch cover to use and which starter motor to use:D

They are all different thicknesses and weights! I want to try and use the escort or mondeo one as they run the biggest clutch and the lightest flywheel. But there designed for a front wheeled drive gearbox so the clutch cover is not as deep. Which means my realease bearing is a million miles away. I can use the p100 one which is the thickest and mega heavy one,but runs a tiny clutch plate.I also uses a cable cluch mech where I want to stick with hydralic as the commer is standard. Im thinking of making an adapter plate to mount a concentric slave cylinder in the bellhousing of the box but need to see how much room ive got and how much throw the cylinder will have to push the clutch in and out. Then once ive worked all this out need the correct starter with the correct throw on it:D;)Its harder as ford never fitted the 1.8td to an mt75 in any production car they all had the type 9 box bolted to it.
But im on the case as this is the next part of the jigsaw:D;)

Cheers col;)
Think Im going to have to go and buy some starter motors to compare there are two others besides the ones ive got that might fit;)

Bit more of an update for those that are following, got a starter motor that fits now with a massive throw on it so should do the trick. Turns out there was one kicking around my garage;) But want to see if I can get a higher kilo watt in the same starter fitting, as the diesel one is 1.8kw and the one fitted is about 1kw. Looks like I may be able to get a 1.4kw with the same fixings. Got to go and see my starter and alternator guru.

The gearbox output flange has arrived:

Put all the engine covers in place to make sure it all fits under there and to see how much room ive got left.

Now ive got all the mounts made for this one im going to drop my 2litre efi 135bhp pinto in the engine bay and see how much work is involved in making some mounts for that one to. Half the works done as it will use same gearbox with the same box mounts.

Havent been on the engine transplant for a while what with the nec and loads of shifts at work. But ive been doing alot more home work on what fits what to make some progress.
Anyway ive now got hold of an ultima scorpio mt75 gearbox. There the same size gearbox as the sierra with a slightly different ratio that more suited to my needs, which im going to use instead of the sierra one as these run a consetric hydralic release bearing. It should make things a bit easier to hook up to the original commer clutch master cylinder.

Put my phone in the bellhousing to how the input shaft fits as i was a bit worried it was going to be different to the sierra but its identical.

Put it on to a spare block ive got just to check it;)

Still got to work out clutch plate, cover and flywheel combo next:)
