A commer with boost

It took some working out I can tell you:Dlol The wiring loom is going to be fun to, as this is the 90bhp engine it runs a basic ecu and throttle position sensor so bit more involved than the non turbo one.;)

A big one LOL

Had to uprate the wiring and board in my workshop to run it as it pulls 30amps so your avarage 13amp 3pin plug wont work.
The electric meter loves it goes into turbo mode:D

Its an sip one:
http://plasmacutters.co.uk/Product/SIP_Plasma_Cutters/SIP_Professional_Cutters/25068

Its very big and heavy cost me about 900quid but had it a while now.
You can get invertor ones for about 500 for a good one. There about quarter of the size of mine but can be very expensive to repair if they go wrong and from what ive read they do! ;)

I have a 30+amp (can't remember off the top of my head) socket for stuff like that already :) had to because my welder had a 3 pin plug fitted from factory that quickly melted itself into the socket haha! I would relaly like a plasma cutter, the amount i spend on cutting blades is silly, i probably would be halfway there now...

A work of engine mounting art[^] I love fabbing things up, it's so satisfying but I haven't produced anything like that[8D]

Summer's nearly done

Managed to get the other mount done today, still a bit more gusseting to do them but the engine is now sitting on its mounts just the gearbox mount to do;)

Ive been getting the gearbox perfect centre of the van as the original commer one was. But in doing so ive noticed that the output flange on the diff is offset on a commer and the prop actually runs on a slight angle.
Ive used some plumb lines, tape measure and a laser level to get the centre of the van. You can see how far the diff is out from a birds eye view point of view.

Gearbox is perfect centre

So im going to make up a propshaft that runs to the same angle as the commer one was before;)

Yes but the commer engine was slap bang in the centre. I would mount it centre myself. As long as you have a sliding joint in your prop for suspension travel, you should be fine. Cant see the rear diff taking the power and torque of a v8 for very long, there only used to around the 50bhp mark;) get the grinder out and start chopping:D

i wont be going too mad,(well not at first ! :D )
the problem is that the prop will be quite short i think,
(hav'nt got axle back yet to check ) so might make a big
difference moving it over just that 'lil' bit.

we'll soon see ! :D:D

LOL:D Thanks for the comments guys.Ive just been and ordered one of these:

Its to change the gearbox flange to make it so I can mount a normal prop with uj either end and sliding joint;)
The normal flange on the mt75 box has a rubber damper and runs a centre bearing on the prop. Im going to do away with that as the prop is now not very long;)

Yeh I see what you mean as the prop so short. Just run some plumb lines and see what it looks like. Never looked befor but if you look square on at the diff you can see its not centre;)
