Re sprayed the front bumper silver, its not perfect but will do, its now re fitted but I may end up removing it again I'll see what I think.

Just replaced all the brake pipes which we corroded with copper-nickel brake pipes, had to do about 7 in all its taken all day but should be worth it. I've also got a new spare wheel that fits (thanks martin).

Good to see you got a great van. I personally like the raised digit plates with the plastic letters/numbers on a ally background but not sure if they are available new.

Right weve just got back from our trip to Watchet nr. Minehead, all in all a very successful trip. we even reached 65 MPH !!! it was a good test run for Smurf and she ran well.
however we do now have some jobs to do :
-Replace rear gearbox oil seal.
-Replace rear nearside hub oil seal.
-Replace nylon bushes in the gear linkage.
-Replace exhaust for a quieter one.
All in all I am very pleased with her and I'm glad the list isn't longer.

I have got plates for my chamois from these people. I prefered the raised plastic digits as well - and they do them in black and also the modern styles from the seventies. Modern plates just don't look right on classic vehicles.

You can do what you want to the timing ive done and tried loads of mods to get more to the gallon. You wont get better than your getting trust me 
. Best thing to do is grin smile and put it in when its empty or take the engine out and fit something more modern like im doing. I recon i should be doing 45mpg when ive done the conversion just need to retire to get the time on it lol

I don't mind about the fuel economy it just seems stupid not to try and improve it, anyway it seems to pull much better which is good, I've also had to reduce the tickover as it was running to fast as a result.

I did 113 miles between top ups at the the weekend and put in 20.5 litres. that = 25 mpg - not bad when you consider I was stuck in a traffic jam for two hours and without overdrive for most of the journey As well as being quicker than your average Commer he seems equally more fuel efficient.

He's got a Rapier engine fitted (£20 off ebay) with a few mods. Electric fan (no mechanical one at all), electric water pump, an 1 3/4" SU conversion and electronic points. I also made up a straight through exhaust with 1 3/4" bore - it's quieter than the standard one but non-restrictive and efficient. It all ads up to a very responsive, nippy, economical (I've had over 30 mpg) engine and you can hold a conversation at the legal limit.
