Out and About

After much gnashing of teeth, swears and brand new batteries, I had my first weekend away! Goldstream Provincial Park for 3 nights.

She gets lots of attention wherever we go, and people will leave their phone numbers under a wiper, should I ever want to sell.

Down to 2°C overnigt with drizzle. The acres of windows don’t do much to keep in the heat, so I’ve been using 4 of those folding reflective windscreen shields people use in the summer, behind the blinds. No electrical hookups this trip, but LED interior lights, solar and candle lanterns were fine. Seriously considering a compact propane heater until the weather warms up.
The Easter bunny even came by!F571043F-24E9-4DB3-829D-AB3877E547D2.jpeg35714F06-3FAE-4E44-8C9B-C30A1C0014DB.jpeg6D681F3C-CDD3-4AAB-84AF-F36081278A5C.jpeg31EAE8F5-2547-45E5-B8B7-E4937759D7BF.jpeg

Sir Panky - that door mirror is the worst piece of Frankensteined sh*te ever. Wobbles and vibrates something fierce.

Next to new seatbelt webbing, functional mirrors are are the top of the list!

2 nights at French Beach. Another provincial park on the island. Sounds of thundering waves, wind in the trees and eagles overhead.
Bit of a roller coaster road along the coast, and only one hair raising moment in a steep downhill curve when I suddenly found myself steering a giant wet sponge in the wrong lane.

The seams all seem to be leaking on the roof - hence the stylish white tarpaulin- so I will be asking the Commer collective for advice on how to approach that project. Thankfully the rain only came down Friday.

Had a fellow stop by and offer free hub cap polishing. Not sure if that actually means what he says, but he was very taken with the camper.

Spent a superb bank holiday weekend at Martins. His site was busy but never crowded or rowdy (well maybe over in our corner a bit:rolleyes:) and the sun shone:cool:

Indeed it was a smashing weekend when we finally got there! We were held up in the traffic on the M62 the matrix signs said 'Animals in the Road' and all the traffic came to a stand still.20180505_130915.jpg
So Heidi and I went for a walk about on the carriage way.

Then a sit down,

When we did start moving 1&1/2 hours later we saw what the problem was

Better to be queuing than be part of the incident.
When we finally arrived at Martins the sun was shinning and the Fosters was nice and cold.

Next a treat for Jim

One of Martins shinny new stainless exhaust which is amazing.
On Monday we stayed and enjoyed the company and the bank holiday sun until about 7pm.
However on our way home in the middle of the roads works this happened9.jpg
We managed to sneak through the cones and stop on the hard shoulder and waited for free recovery to turn up, 1 hour later and he told us that he would put Jim on the back of his truck and take us to the services where it would be safer to change the wheel.
But the trucks bed was too steep and Jim too low he couldn't get Jim on the back,so he ask me to drive him down the hard shoulder where it was a bit safer and we eventually changed the wheel.IMG-20180512-WA0001.jpg

Got home about 10.30 but still a great bank holiday weekend.

Long weekend at a large private campground along the Sooke River, which gets tidal flow from the ocean. 3 lovely nights with a waterfront view.

She refused to start after stopping to register at the camp office , but the kind gents pushed me into the site.

Swans. Eagles, osprey, kingfishers and hummingbirds right outside the door.

First time using the electrical hookup; LUXERY!!

The forecast hadn’t called for rain, but it started at 0500 Saturday, and I discovered a broom is a very effective tool for getting a tarp over top. The sun came out a few hours later and it was glorious for the rest of the weekend.

Spent a couple of nice sunny days on Angelsey with the sister in law and her partner. Same spot we went last year and just as nice.
