Fontaine's first week

did someone say cake:p:p:p
well, progress so far, the engine mount is sorted. replaced all the manifold nuts with stainless. re-worked the alternator bracket to give more adjustment and fitted a shorter fan belt, so its now well away from anything [^]

had to modify the wheel carrier and the gearbox mount with the help of mr.grinder

so now the spare is no longer on the roof :)

tis a cerrtain mini exhaust, but it hasn,t fallen on yet, and trying to find room for it is a bit like splitting the atom with a chisel [:0]

forgot to mention the reason for the rough running was probably due to the vacuum pipe from the carb to the dizzy was just dangling in thin air [xx(]

The fact that you love cake so much makes us know that fontaine is in perfect hands. We are very much the same!

She will look beautiful with the wheel of the roof. I think we will remove the sharks fin as well at some point! I have to admit that the vacuum dangling is down to me! We had it off as we changed the dizzy on friday, whoops!

The wheel carrier looks great, and doing it without removing the water tank as we were first told is fab. The space though for the exhaust is a worry, there is certainly not much room! And panky, yep it is an RC40, we managed to get it for £15 off of ebay.

The rest that your doing, replacing the screws and the belt is above and beyond what we thought/could of hoped for. You deserve a stiff drink...and a slice of cake already!

Wow, thanks for the photos....and the tips ;) The roof is normally bolted, and there def is a knack to it! We leave it open when its in storage and someone (me) must of forgot in the excitement to release it back into the wild at the weekend!

The red light, yep that stays on when the leisure battery is attached. if you unclip it, the light should go out. The whole lesiure battery/main battery is a bit confused. I'm certain the leisure battery is connected to the main. I would think that the lights in the back should run off the leisure, which they do, but if you unclip it they still go on- so must be connected to the main too!?

The funky tap....its not to funky when you have to try to suck the water out first time you use it to get the flow going [xx(]

The two birds attached to the rear view mirror are me and cara...i shouldn't be described as a bird should i! The basket bit is a nest for the fae and the bells summon our guardian angel to watch over us when they jangle, perhaps we should divert the bells straight through to the RAC!

Have you thought anymore as to if this commer is a autosleeper conversion, or do you think it is different?

Also, have you decided to have the seat covers too, so it all matches?

Most of the features Chris pointed out are the same as yori - clippy table bits, nice lights, roof catch etc I would say its an Autosleeper, windows and roof look similar too
 
It has a narrow roof ? earlier auto sleeper ? it is a PA You still have the power supply above the sink ? round 2 pin plug :Dit has different window catches to what I have seen before [8D]
I only had a quick look :I but alternator should be able to power both car & leisure batteries,haven't studied cab area but did try front drivers seat :p is well comfy further back than I am use too.

you do have the cover on exterior panel for hook up lead that should power your sockets too [8D]
sounds like you will need a stainless water tank if you have to suck first [V]....
I did unzip a cushion but found you only have the covers under & nothing else so stitched it back up otherwise your foam won't last too long.

Its an electric tap/sink so i think we have to suck on it to get the flow of the water going. Excuse my ignorance, how does a stainless tank help/benefit us? There is no foot pump or anything for it, like the originals have. The external hook up works, and does power the 240v sockets correctly. We hadn't really noticed the 2 pin plug!!

If you want the covers for the seats you are very welcome. We can put a lining on them ourselves if needs be to protect them a bit more.

Stainless steel would be more hygienic,I haven't took much notice of the water tank but I think they were aluminium [V]very unhealthy,they stopped making ali saucepans because of it,I think due to age they would be pretty disgusting to drink from [xx(] A lot of vans seem to have had the originals removed,quite often you see water carriers etc under vans plastic's good too :Dmind you I am not sure how you would go about sterilising as part of a habitation service you can't put milton in a metal container? I think I will get Tim to remove a water tank from no.3 & cut it in half to see whats in there [:0]
I notice your fridge is a good size [^]When you did the floor were there any sign of a foot pump ie a round hole? you can add an electric pump with a switch.
You will need to sand blast the under neath of fontaine & get her wax oiled...I think you should do that before you replace any panels? p.s Sybhils cusions are in 3 parts each side so they wouldn't fit any way :I

I've just had a vision of a cut in two water tank and all that may be festering inside [xx(] Yes, stainless seams a very good idea! I don't think we would drink straight from it anyhow - certainley not now!

There was no sign of a foot pump when we did the floor. However the previous owner had put some board down, which we left and put our flooring on top off. We didn't want to ruin the original.

I just had a quick look at wax oiling. It'll have to wait abit due to cost (up to about £400-£500!?) but perhaps at christmas time when the salty roads return we shall do it. Plus if you think it is more needed than the panels then we shall see to it first. To be honest the panels have to wait for a LONG time. I'm self employed and work is very unpredictable at the moment [:(!]

We feel like fontaine is getting a massive bit of pampering with you two casting your beedy eyes over her, we are more concerned she won't want to leave :D
