Fontaine's first week

Sorry Woolfy, i didn't know you were doing rear carpets as well. We wanted it to match all the way through, hence why we we didn't get the front cab carpets. I've got your mail thanks - it looks like you'll get enough business out of us soon enough anyhow [:0];)

We are doing a bit of work with Fontaine, this is to include a new roof lining in the just the cab. Has anyone done their own? If so any tios, what did you use?

I used to make them for MGA's years ago. Very easy to do, just use the old one as a pattern and a bit of careful stitching, but make sure the stiching is straight, it really shows ;)
We just used standard headlining material.

Its our soon to be fitted electronic ignition system that we'll hopefully get in on friday (bearing in mind my lack of mechanical knowledge!) We do have some help though, so i'll just be assisting this time!

Also, Chris - in preparation for the clasp we are nabbing from you we have tarted up your old spare wheel carrier -

Also, thanks for the bit on the headlining Martin. Only noticed your reply this evening. I'm sure it didn't come up the other night! i've done a bit of searching for the material and we should be ok, along with straight stiching....!

Finally, we picked up an RC40 off of ebay yesterday, not to far from us. So, thats the plan next. It was £15! After reading Pankys 'Back of the garage' thread i think that must be the record, beating Commeracers £16. Thankfully no one else in that locality fancied it!

Hopefully so! Last time we had her out our newly replaced cam was knocking as well. Hopefully, we just need to make some bigger holes in the oil feed pipe- alot of people have told us on the Pinto the pipe is very very narrow and gets clogged up and starves the cam of oil. We can, we hope just make the holes a tad bigger!?

I had a 1600 Sierra and the cam went right on cue at 60,000 miles. I seem to remember the some of cam kits at the time had modified pipes with a non-return valve fitted so the oil didn't need to be pumped all the way from the sump every time you started the engine - or did I just make that up:I
Give the pipe a good blast with the air line as well to make sure it's clear.

its a common problem with pintos [xx(] there is probably a decent mod that can be done, just nedd to do some research to find out what it is :)

Thanks for the info. I shall get a bit more research done on them. There are quite a few dedicated forums and sites regarding the engines, as i'm sure you know! Having a look at it on friday so will keep you informed!

Racer has removed both parts of the wheel carrier clasp [^] so you can leave the tools at home ;)

Tools....what are they!? Thank you, thats a great help. Having looked, we have two bolts through one of the lower hanging panels, hopefully this is where the clasp was before. This would also mean we do not have to move the water tank as first though and would just have to re route the new exhaust.

The problem would be that we would need to move the exhaust! We have the back box and silencer but it would need to be shaped with some piping and welding. However, we can pay in biccies (not bourbons - tooo tastey) tea bags, and if really pushed some of those papery things with the queens face!!
