Early Carcamper? on Ebay

Fair play to you Ian, how old are your kids?? When I got my 1st van Smurf our youngest was 4 and he loved it so much he had a photo album full of pics of it and he would take it where ever he went and would tell everyone how much he loved it[8D][8D]

My eldest is 10 and my youngest 5, both are very excited.

I didn't tell them it was arriving today, so when they walked down the road from school and saw it, it was a complete surprise.

Just so you remember Harvey is the original and best;)
Any chance you can make it to Pandy weekend after next? We can compare:)

Sorry I'm afraid the Mrs is already working.

Congratulations with your purchase of this nice early Commer Carcamper, Ian ! Very good to hear that it has gone to a new caring and very satisfied owner. It really deserves it, as it is a rare bird this one.

I must say that I particularly liked what you said about getting the camper and put it to use while the kids are young enough to appreciate it like just kids can do (we grown-ups appreciate it too, of course, but in a different way to the bottomless and spontaneous joy you often witness in children). What a wonderful focus !

Our daughter will be four in a couple of months, and she is so excited about the campervan that hardly a day goes by without her talking about it or creating a play-scenario where we are on holiday in the campervan or just having tea in it. Earlier this evening, when she had her bath, she suddenly said: "You and me, dad, are now in the camper. And it is just you and me - because we like driving fast, and Hector (her little brother, 11 months old) will just fall all over the place in the back when we go fast. So he can't come, and not mum either - because she doesn't like it when we're going fast. Hihi ;)"

If only their mum had been equally excited... :I

All the best of luck with the Carcamper. I trust we will hear more from you and your life with the camper in the days/weeks/months/years to come, now that you - finally - are a Commer owner :)

You could try your luck with a night time raid in the Beaulieu museum, Colin. That way you could bag a nice Carcamper for free.... :D

Or maybe not.

Let's hope Tim isn't reading this ;)

When I was 18, I had wet dreams about a Renault Estafette windowed van with sliding doors. I still find them strangely attractive.

Not sure i wanted to know that, feel slightly soiled now!!

Sorry, I should have used another term :)

But I'm not sure that this obsession for odd vans in all shapes or forms - and origins - is a healthy condition.

Luckily, I'm not the only one on this forum suffering. Far from it.. :D

Love that photo of the old blue Estafette at that windswept beach, though. Mother and children sitting inside having their lunch, and father putting up the canopy outside. Classic ! Would have liked one these canopies myself. Or one of these:
