Thank you

I had to do some shuffling about of the fleet to get the Mini out yesterday as I didn't fancy gassing myself in the garage during the start up checks

I wanted to swap the Mini and Ted over so Ted was in the BOTG and the Mini in front. So Harvey and the Mini ended up on the grass verge outside with Ted and Bonnie parked on the road. Bonnie started up easily, as usual, but was hesitant on the accelerator but I more or less coasted down my sloping drive and onto the road. Once Ted and the Mini where safely back in the garage it was Bonnie's turn to take her place back behind the gates - easy

No way would she take any load and stalled every time I eased the clutch up

I eventually moved her by virtually flooring the accelerator on full choke and slipping the clutch like crazy, something slightly amiss here I think, strange thing was she performed perfectly on out trip to Angelsey and has not been touched since

So today the carb came off (SU HIF44) as it felt like there was a massive air leak somewhere, I've got a spare carb and had decided to swap them but I took then to bits just to check first. At first I didn't notice the problem but then I spotted it when I took the float chamber cover off - the plastic elbow that fits over the jet and draws the fuel up had somehow become dislodged from the mounting plate, I've no idea how it could happen but a two minute fix had Bonnie purring like a kitten and pulling like a train again

Now here's the twist, the carb that's on Bonnie originally came off the Mini, I nicked it a few years ago while the Mini was slumbering meaning to get another, but when I did get another it went on the Mini - she knows the Mini is out again and is letting me know just where that carb is staying

A psychic Commer, whatever next
