Back of the garage

Bernie came round after work to give me a hand getting the screens in:) It was 83 degrees F outside so gawd knows what it was under the plastic roof in the BOTG:eek: We sweated, persevered, drank some beer and finally did it:D

What a swine of a job it is getting those chrome filler trims in - even with the correct tool:rolleyes: But I guess if it's tight it wont leak;)
Thanks Bernie, you owe me a few less favours;)

Cheers:)
No leaks(yet) after 20 minutes or so sitting at just over 2000 rpm the temp stayed just below half way and I gingerly removed the rad cap - no pressure build up at all - well chuffed:D

Thank you:)
I had to do some shuffling about of the fleet to get the Mini out yesterday as I didn't fancy gassing myself in the garage during the start up checks:eek: I wanted to swap the Mini and Ted over so Ted was in the BOTG and the Mini in front. So Harvey and the Mini ended up on the grass verge outside with Ted and Bonnie parked on the road. Bonnie started up easily, as usual, but was hesitant on the accelerator but I more or less coasted down my sloping drive and onto the road. Once Ted and the Mini where safely back in the garage it was Bonnie's turn to take her place back behind the gates - easy:rolleyes: No way would she take any load and stalled every time I eased the clutch up:( I eventually moved her by virtually flooring the accelerator on full choke and slipping the clutch like crazy, something slightly amiss here I think, strange thing was she performed perfectly on out trip to Angelsey and has not been touched since:confused:
So today the carb came off (SU HIF44) as it felt like there was a massive air leak somewhere, I've got a spare carb and had decided to swap them but I took then to bits just to check first. At first I didn't notice the problem but then I spotted it when I took the float chamber cover off - the plastic elbow that fits over the jet and draws the fuel up had somehow become dislodged from the mounting plate, I've no idea how it could happen but a two minute fix had Bonnie purring like a kitten and pulling like a train again:)
Now here's the twist, the carb that's on Bonnie originally came off the Mini, I nicked it a few years ago while the Mini was slumbering meaning to get another, but when I did get another it went on the Mini - she knows the Mini is out again and is letting me know just where that carb is staying:eek: A psychic Commer, whatever next;)

Got his Cooper face back on:D

I got the bonnet stripes, side laurels and stripes from an antique and craft centre about ten years ago for less than a fiver - Minispares ones too. Just going with the bonnet stripes for now.

There was never a battery strap fitted so in line with my policy of not spending anything unless I have to I made one

A piece of ally angle I found and couple of cut down tent pegs threaded with a 3/16 whitworth die nut I just happened to have - found a couple of nuts that fitted too - jammy bugger ;)

Need to find the positive battery terminal cover - I've got it somewhere  The battery cover is now on so OK for now,

Fitted a fire extinguisher today, also re-gapped the plugs and had another tweak of the engine. Then a wash and polish in preparation for the MOT tomorrow:)

I'm afraid it's another pic of Coop as he has now been named (after over 20 years of ownership)

I did enjoy the ride there - even more on the way back. MOT man says YESSSSSS and no advisories:D

Being analysed

Was running a bit lean so he let me adjust it before we carried on:)

Not a drip - yet;)

Chuffed doesn't cover it:) Taxed it on line, filled him up and went for a little drive, pulls really well and runs as smooth as a Mini can be:cool:
