Back of the garage

Joyful indeed. The good thing is there's not that much metal to replace in the whole car compared to a Commer, and compered to a Minor the construction is very simple so I'm quite enjoying it ATM:)

Thanks Andrew:)
Popped the screen out to see what lay beneath. Happy with what I found, nothing too bad with just the one repair I was expecting and a few rust spots to deal with.

Needs a bit of re-shaping but better than the hole that was there I think:)

It's a shame that there's no recycled metal from any white goods used in this resto :-/

My cousins a bugger for it, rebuilt a T4 front end with a washing machine!

I've been out there for a couple of hours on most days so things are progressing slowly. I tidied up the screen frame repair and also attended to rusted out aerial and repeater indicator holes on that wing, I deleted the aerial hole completely and will probably fit one on the roof. Rear screen is out with just one little repair needed to the frame and a bit of Deox gel action on a couple of other spots.

The shell is pretty much ready for paint but it's a bit cold and damp just yet so that can wait for a few weeks, so out came the sunroof - just for something to do:)

Looks a bit sad

Lots of nuts to undo to get the frame out

So stripped it down and found lots of rust on the front and rear plates

What's left of the skin

The good news is the lining and locking mechanism is fine and I've got a spare roof with a knackered lining (bloody mice:mad:) but good front and rear plates and a decent skin - but it's black.

I mocked it up to see what it looked like

Still undecided but a replacement is £100 so I think I'll go with what I've got and see how it goes, can always save up for a new one if we don't like it

Thanks guys, I think I know what you mean Jim;) Trouble is the rest of the car will be like new (yeah right):)

Is this the most festive masking paper in the world

It's dried nice and even but will need cutting back in a couple of weeks. Only one run but it's behind the rear number plate:D
A couple of rattle cans of White Diamond should do for the roof as most of it is a big hole.

Dont do like I did when I welded my scuttle.... I waxoiled the inside.... Bad move when it set on fire. Lucky I had a decent extinguisher strapped to my mig
