Engine is all plumbed in and a heater built up using bits from three. Ended up using a matrix from an old heater - they use a different one with proper soldered in connections not the 'orrible plastic connections used on later ones that always leak.
And today I spent my time cutting and polishing the new paint, it wont win any show n' shine trophies but it will do me
Started cleaning up the splatters of compound and polish off things that shouldn't have been compounded and polished - everything that isn't shiny Also wired in an inertia cut out switch for the fuel pump and made a cheeky coil cover - I don't need energy drinks so did't use the usual Red Bull can but went for a more chilled look instead
Inertia switch is on the drivers side inner wing at the top left of the pic, hopefully the hinge will miss it when the bonnet is on
Re-assembled and fitted the Britax sunroof with the second hand cover I had. The front plate originally came out of an MGB so a little bit of adjusting of was needed. Fiddly, messy (sealant everywhere ) but it's in, it opens, it closes and is as tight as a drum Just need to clean up the head lining of all my mucky finger prints
We used to have a Volvo 245 with one of those sunroofs. No matter how tight it was, it was noisy as hell at 70+MPH, and we would have kept it but for the roof. I even considered plating over and doing a vinyl roof. Glad I didn't! Sooooooo 80s!
It's actually not that bad, it's not the biggest Britax so not too much material to flop about. The only problem I had was when it was open - I had long hair at the time and it used to get sucked out flailing about in the breeze
A few bits done over the last couple of weeks. Shultzed underneath, fitted the bumpers, cut and polished the paint again, all the electrics working, petrol tank in, and insured it today
Bernie is coming over to help with fitting the front and rear screens on Friday so once that's done it's wheels and arches to fit and MOT
Harvey's test is tomorrow at 11 o' clock
