Back of the garage

Compared to a Commer it's easy-ish, but I've got to say mine is no where near as bad as some I've seen. They can rot just as well as any, but at least there's no previous repairs to deal with that I haven't done myself as I've had the car since it was about three years old.
Must have drilled out about 50 spot welds on the sill to doorstep/body joint:rolleyes:

Finished the welding on the drivers side

Outer sill needs a bit of tidying up and a lick of paint

Now got the other side to do:rolleyes:

Decided to get one of these to make life a bit easier

that's alot of Welding! Lovely work, my next talk is learning to weld, been saying that for years though. I've seen the welders that do Steel and alloy £500 Practical classics reckon they're pretty good

Front floor is in. Welds need a bit of tidying:rolleyes:

The rest of the hole got a bit bigger, and I broke my spot weld removal bit:(

Another extra couple of feet of welding, didn't really need to cut that much out bit it makes it easier to make the repair.

It's amazing how quickly the hole can spread! Looks like sterling work you are doing there and I suspect you are doing a bit of your own fabrication.

Yup them holes just get bigger. I've got a new outer sill but the inner sill/floor edge is a simple bent flat piece of steel that's easily made up, just need to make sure the bend is in the right place as that's where the outer sill meets - lots of fitting and fettling to come.

Fitting and fettling day:)
The inner sill/floor edge panel I had to make was 39" long - the bits of angle iron I usually use for bending are too short and the B&D work mate has got the engine sitting on it, hmmmmm. The garage door fame makes an excellent folder, and the sheet metal is held firmly in place with the doors shut:D
The section in place with clamps

Goes all the way through here....

to here

Once that lot is welded up I can fit the outer sill. Then it's on to the rest of the car - just a quick once over I told myself last October:rolleyes:

Good work. Nice to see a bit of improvised fabrication taking place. I think if I was to use the doorframe on my workshop for such folding, it would disintegrate as it's rotten as anything - still, not my problem soon!
