Have been in communication with the owner and we're really interested, just the type of van we're looking for, just a shame she isn't tax exempt.

Interesting conversion. I thought at first glance that it was a Trailblazer, but I'm not so sure, particularly with that interior. Can anyone alse advise - Admin?

I agree it is a shame about the tax situation, I have two cars built 5 months apart. One is tax exempt, the other isn't. Would you plan to use the van all year round, or could you get away with 6 months on the road and 6 months SORN. However, for the sake of a good van tax may be a small price to pay. Good luck with your search, I hope you find what you want. :)

You're right, at the end of the day the tax situation doesn't really matter. 6 months for £80/90 and you've covered the whole of the summer. I have a Karrier Bantam which was made during their final year of production 1978! and we've always had to tax her.

I was wondering about the conversion, can anyone inform me?

Oohh, looks a nice little van for you kjh75, you have been on the lookout for a while now. Shame about the tax element but i agree with renaultvation - A small price to pay for the right van;-)

We even have our own beavertail lorry to pick the van up!

You're very right there, e-bay is a strange place at times but i reckon that it's a good time to buy. All other Commer's that have sold recently have either not met the reserve or haven't gone for the kind of money one would expect? So i would say just go to you're top line and leave it there. It's fairly evident that e-bay is throwing more and more up as the weather improves so won't be long before another one pops up;-)
That aside though, what you also have to take into consideration is that you could be waiting and waiting for another and none will surface! Good luck and hope you win it if you're bidding.

Could be a bargain but be careful - there does seem to be plenty of filler around - not a flute in sight along the sides and doors so expect a fair bit of work. But we all know what can be done so if you are up for it - go for it[^]

I have noticed the filler, I've been promised more photos but as yet not recieved.
I don't mind a bit of bodywork, as long as I can get one tested and looking presentable I'd be happy. But until I hear anything further from the seller I'm holding back.

We are down in Somerset, about a couple hours away. Unfortunately, we can't get up there before the auction ends. I have asked a lot of questions, some have been answered others not yet.

If I could get the van tested with minor work then ok, but I am a bit cautious as to the condition of the lower areas. I wouldn't want to buy a van which looks ok only to find it needs major surgery.

I will wait for the sellers reply.

Just put my anorack on:

I'm not sure about the Trailblazer link, the roof is not quite right, the nearside window is too long and all versions, whether Commer, Ford or Bedford had predominantly formica faced furniture, whereas this one appears to be oak veneer or similar. The interior was also a carry forward from the Wanderer, which it replaced, with wardrobe always on the nearside and utilities on the offside.

Is this one a little known conversion, a hybrid or a home converted special? It looks professional to me.

I feel it's my duty! and that I only live 20 mins away and I'm there on Saturday it would be a crime to miss that opportunity
So need address? armed with that I can do a reconnaissance mission:)

It's a Car-Camper, later version without the louvre side windows and it has the MKII Sherwood rsing roof.The fridge was an optional extra which reduced the size of the chest of drawers. Saw this one at rallies a few years ago in the hands of previous owner, it was very nice back then, and lower 'ribs' had not been filled.

I started with nothing.....and I still have most of it!
 
Just had a reply from the owner, apparently theres a small amount of welding needs doing underneath, the front brakes need looking at and he mentions a brake pipe going front to back needing attention.

Its original colour was white and they have resprayed it blue. It was last on the road in 2000! He has said that he's had an offer of £750 and that I should phone him tonight. Is it worth that amount? Or is that just an ebay ploy to get me 'more' interested?
