I've been sent hundreds of photos and videos. I'm just sorting through them. Here's a couple the whet your whistle

OK. I finally got around to looking at the van. I dropped the diff oil and it wasn't full of swarf. I did stick my finger in the drain hole and I found the cross pin. To take the shafts out on a P5 axle the wheel bearing carriers need to come off and as I have to take the axle off to get the wheel out I decided to pull it off completely.
The drums came off first followed by the bearing carrier. Both shafts and splines are fine so I pulled the diff.. looks like the cross pin snapped and smashed the diff carrier and gears!20230528_170138.jpg20230528_170146.jpg20230528_170131.jpg

OK. So I have stripped the axle that I had in stock as a spare ( bought from Jimberlake) a few years ago. Turns out that it's the same ratio and number of splines!. I've ordered a new pinion seal and axle seal set so it can be fitted while I save up the £850 to buy an lsd to fit into the original housing.

No diff update as yet. I'm still waiting for the postman to bring all the seals etc.
I did however pick up an absolute bargain via Face ache market place.. an Optima Red Top battery. It's half the size and 2/3 the weight but with higher cranking power than the truck one I have in the van. I'm hoping to build a battery box to drop it into the floor.

Time to start putting it back together after a jet wash. Unfortunately the axle seal and gasket set I ordered from a Rover specialist appears to be wrong. The O ring is too big and the seal is too small. Luckily the pinion seal and diff gaskets are correct.
