oh dear, what have you done:( - that jaycar site sure is deadly!:D

mmmmmm, you know that roofrack you're considering building Tim?;)[}:)]:D

Whereabouts did you mount the cooler sam?. I suppose it was behind the rad. - I dont have any room there anymore :I so need to assess alternative positions.

I think my ram air added about 7HP - but whether that was due to the force feed or just the fact that its now taking in cold air I dont know. Still less horseys than if I had managed to make space for the the twin 40s, but more than the twin 150 stroms on their own.
I am still going to experiment a bit more with needles & springs once I replace the clutch I snapped.

Cheers
Jules

7 HP my God - you doubled the standard engine power in one go [:0][:0][}:)]

Seriously, a worth while mod [^]

a worthwhile increase [^] more likely caused by the colder air.

Maybe just the cold air.....I set it up so as the "supercharger" only kicks in on full throttle (switch under the pedal) as the force feeding is too much on tickover and swamps it, and then causes it to run on when switching off, so I had to fit a sensor. The tickover is lumpy at best of times due to the ported head and peaky cam.
Also I fitted an override kill switch so as I can have full throttle without the blower on, just so as I can find out exactly how much it adds when I rolling road it. (I'm a bit anal like that:I)
I did flick the switch off on a few power runs I managed to do before I snapped the clutch and I think
I noticed the difference above 5K revs

I remember seeing a program that featured a Ferrari test driver whose remit was to test engines to destruction - and he did just that on camera when a work of art Italian masterpiece went POP at about 10000rpm. You seem to be filling in that role for us Jules [^] Good man - but not on my van :I

I fitted the oil cooler when i was going through utter engine bay heat paranoia. the oil cooler sits on the driver's side about level with the side of the gearbox. this way when stationary the heat lost from it doesn't rise into the engine bay.

This was before the snorkle - which goes through the innerwing.

this all makes limited sense without photos - sorry. will try and get on the case. hopefully it won't be dark and raining when I get home.

Jules - can't wait to hear how you get on at the rolling road.

I guess that means your existing cooling system is working as it should. Unless you've modded the engine or run flat out all the time - do you really need an oil cooler. You can over cool things after all.

After fitting the oil temp guage I blasted the length of the M4 (sometimes hitting a scary 70mph[:0]) on a hot summer's day. A combo of crappy engine oil and a clogged rad prompted me to fit the oil cooler kit that i'd taken of my old morris traveller (Fiat twin cam[}:)]). Didn't take long.

butchered some greenhouse to make the brackets:

and then forgot to upload the other photos - sorry! I'll try an pick them up at the weekend.

In the meanwhile here's some of the gearbox linkage modded to fit the longer gearbox. Note tunnion thing almost fully unwound on threads and (temporary) bracket relocated further back to allow it to line up.

Even with this the gearstick hit the dash - so that had to be bent back (so it is now perfectly straight).

Must remember to make a new bracket up before that one falls off!

it seems the most amazing exhaust brackets supporting my most amazing exhaust weren't up to the job.

a stress fracture before the silencers caused a crack and a tremendous noise. I quite impressed myself at affording a repair in less than 11 mins (a personal best in this situation), I would have been quicker but i spent 6 mins debating whether to sacrifice a can of Carlsberg or Strongbow.

Carlsberg lost, as did some cutlery:

When I got home I tried wiping the tarnish off on my jeans and putting the knives back in the draw - but mrs sunbeam caught me:(

Repaired the exhaust and designed some new super-dooper mk2 exhaust brackets - firm yet soft, flexible but hard...

Incidently my bargain ebay electronic ignition setup broke after 200miles. Bloke has sent me a replacement module but have yet to fit it. My coil of unknown origin could be to blame, so will change that before experimenting again.

good to see the spirit of Heinz Wolf & great egg race style ingenuity still lives on - makes you proud to be British[^]

saying that - does a can of Carlsberg count as Danish engineering[?]:D

nice bit of emergency improvising [^] must have been tough having to sacrifce a can of carlsberg [:0]

Hi Sam, which gearbox did you fit that you needed to extend the linkage. Is this normal when fitting an O/D box. I seem to remember BMM didn't need to alter his - the linkage went straight on.
