Sounding good Baz.
Will she be ready for Commerfest? And have you got plans for the interior? We've just started putting new curtains into Pootle, and now need to make seat covers. I have no idea how to work sewing machine, but the quotes for having them made up are incredibly expensive.

Definitely going to Commerfest. She drives OK but ideally I need to fit a new fuel tank before any long trips!
Need to get the O/D working and re-route the fuel lines but otherwise mechanically she should be fine.
Interior is usable although I'll have to sort out the cooker and fridge and make sure they're OK.
Also need to get all my camping gear out of the trailer tent as I doubt that I'll be taking the tent with me on this occasion (Commerfest).

Right, well we got Peggy up on Andy's ramps yesterday (had to remove the n/s mirrors to get it through the door and even then it was very close).
The underneath is goin gto get some rust-proofing in the summer and before that I'll be doing a bit of wire-brushing and rustkilling.
Anyway, the reason for getting her up was to investigate why the o/d doesn't work. We connected a test light to the wires feeding the solenoid and it lit up when the switch was flicked in both 3rd and 4th so the switch and relay appear to be working fine. It's a J type o/d so there's no adjustment involved. Although the amps at the solenoid were 1.74 it seems they need to be 2 and 1.74 is not close enough - so it looks like I need a new solenoid.
However, it is possible that the filters within the unit are clogged which could mean lack of oil pressure. Now, do I replace the solenoid anyway or just try the filters first?

I had a response on the triumph forum that suggested checking that the oil pump is pumping - and to clean the filter. I suggest draining the box and checking the filter before buying a new solenoid. I think that maybe 1.75 amps is near enough to 2? It won't cost anything to drain the box and clean the filter out.

I'd clean the filters first,and use new oil, it may not be as viscous as it should , a new solonoid is £35 plus vat plus postage so £41 from speedys...if its clicking in and out it sounds like that may be ok..

I've now got all the bits together to fit an electric fuel pump, in-line filters and re-route the fuel line. Might have to borrow thw ramps again for that as the pump has to be near the tank.
Ah yes, the tank. A week or so ago I said it was leaking. Well, having looked at it I now think it was leaking form the filler or overflow as the fuel was coming out close to the filler rather than near the tank. The tank itself looks to be in good shape. Think I'll have to fill her up again and try to see where the fuel comes out. So I probably won't be needing a new one just yet (sorry Tim).
I had the fuel evaporation issue again yesterday and while I waited for it to cool down I looked at the temps of the various components in the engine bay. The biggest problem with heat is clearly 'heat-soak' from the exhaust manifold to the inlet manifold which in turn will heat up the carb. Without a major change of carb and inlet manifold set-up there's not much to be done about that so let's hope the leccy pump etc helps.
Today I tidied up a bit more under-dash wiring sorting out permanent feeds for the radio and also for the engine cooling fan - so if I stop after a hot run it will run for a few minutes like a modern car does.
Then the sun came out! So I quickly opened up the trailer-tent and removed all the camping stuff and put it into Peggy ready for our first overnighter at the end of the month. Even got the tent put away before the rain returned.
Gave the kitchen bits a proper once-over and discovered that although the fridge is a 3-way there's no gas attached so just 12v or 240v. The electrics are a bit of a mystery at the moment! Connected the cooker up to some gas and the two hobs work fine.
Another job I've been meaning to do is fit Peggy's new black and silver reg plates, they're on now and looking cool. I've saved the old rear one to use when she's towing.
No pics today. Maybe tomorrow.

I looked on Speedy's site and they only have prices for D type solenoids. J types don't get a mention (unless I missed it!). Found one place on-line who can do a J type one for £79 delivered.
I'll go for the drain and clean option first though. Have to order a new gasket for the o/d baseplate I suppose.

Speedys don't sell D type solonoids....J-type not listed just ask them, I know I got 1 by mistake, sent it back and couldn't get the D-type one from them...
Don't buy a gasket, just get a sheet of gasket paper (anywhere very cheap) and make your own....I got a sheet for about £2.50 and have nmade about 7 or 8 gaskets so far and have about half a sheet left

I've got 8mm too, that's what the pump came with. Peggy had a filter fitted near the tank which was full of crud so we changed that for a new one. I'll be fitting one between the pump and the carb as well.

I've got 8mm too, that's what the pump came with. Peggy had a filter fitted near the tank which was full of crud so we changed that for a new one. I'll be fitting one between the pump and the carb as well.

Brand new mate, the pic is the one I got by mistake...I shopped around for my D-type one and even went abroad and got silly prices....when you phone Speedys just say you know me[}] just kidding...just say you want a Laycock J-type solonoid, they know thier stuff and are very friendly[8D]

Just spoke to Andy, we're planning on draining the o/d and box on Monday then open up the o/d base plate and clean out the filters. We'll also whip out the solenoid and have a shufty at that too. If I remember I'll take my camera as well.
