PEGGY

Back now with a few tales. En route Peggy stalled once and took about 10 mins to cool down enough the re-start - she had been in a lot of traffic though so was more hot than usual. Other than that it was a pretty uneventful trip.

After we had arrived and set up we were joined by a darksider who we graciously allowed to park with us (sorry to say it is a very nice one, for a darsider).

I have some video but my laptop has no more memory available so you'll have to wait for that!

Sleeping in Peggy was great, the 'long' pull-out bed being just about perfect for my 6'2" frame.

Overall things went well with no major problems - except the stench of petrol from the filler hose!

No doubt Andy will have some words and pics somewhere.

Today I removed the ally cover from under the pull-out bed to expose the fuel filler pipe. The pipe connecting the filler to the tank was perished and holed in several places. I'm not even sure it was proper fuel pipe as it was the convoluted/flexible universal type used for cooling systems.

No pics at the moment due to laptop memory issues - a fix is in hand for this;)

Unfortunately the piece of pipe/hose that came with Peggy is unsuitable so I'll need to buy a replacement.

Lol, i'll go along with that. Nice Camper Baz, how's the rest of the fleet faring, (I miss reading the updates on the Imps, but the Imp Club became too regimental for my liking).

Imp Club regimental? It's fine mate, a few rules had to be brought in because some people couldn't resist stirring things that's all.

Anyway, LNK is OK, needs some bodywork sorting but not for a while yet (if you watch the video of the Coventry meet you'll see us following the last Commer out!).
Madge, the Singer Vogue is hibernating under a tarp in my back garden awaiting re-commissioning.
LYH, my son's Imp is hibernating in a lock-up garage awaiting.................well, just waiting really!
Peggy is currently imobile awaiting a new fuel filler hose then she'll be ready for whatever I throw at her.

I can't remember how long it's been since I went on the Imp Club now, I'm thinking it's been a bit more than a couple of years giving it a bit of thought. All I remember is that all of a sudden it was an Imp only place with no margin for anything else, pretty much all banter was cut out and everything had to be kept on topic etc. I know things had gotten a little out of control, but it seemed at the time to be a knee jerk reation following some changes at the top and I just decided to call it a day, especially with me selling my Imp on after realising it was just too much work for me to do.

Anyway, back on topic, (sort of, lol,) I saw the video and knew it was LNK somehow before the camera got close up, glad to see it still rolling. Sad to hear about Madge being out of commission though, I never did get to find out too much about her with the aforementioned departure from the Imp Club.

I'm sure it won't be long until you have Peggy up and about again, a fuel filler hose is a 5 minute job compared to some of the other Commers i've read about so far, lol.

There's a section on the Imp Club forum for non-Imp stuff now (The Lounge). Imps have featured quite heavily in the Classic press for a couple of years now and they are climbing in value. If you're tempted you should get one asap, even if it's a project to keep in a lock-up until you're ready to do it (like my boy's LYH). Like the Commers the Imps are benefitting from the extortionate prices of the 'opposition'.

It was too much work for me at the time, in hindsight I should have kept it, but it was a '76 in very bad shape. I thought I may as well look for a better, tax free example.
A move from March, Cambs to Lincoln sealed the demise of it though as I wasn't motivated enough to keep it and pay for a lockup to store it in.

I now have some hose to replace the filler hose with, was hoping to fit it last night after work but had to do a couple of hours overtime so didn't get the chance, maybe tonight.

Finally fitted the new filler hose set-up this morning and took Peggy to the petrol station for a fill-up. No leaks!

Next jobs are to re-fit the front spot lights as they point too low - can't tilt them back any more as the body is in the way.

I also have a new piano hinge for the pull-out double bed - the old hinges had corroded and pulled out the screws makng a bit of a mess. Hopefully have it done by the weekend. No photos as still having IT issues.

Good one on sorting out the filler hose, just over 2 months now until I finally meet both you and Peggy.
