My New Baby!!!

A bit of a pause on this thread whilst I retrained and changed careers. Now on lock down, I have found some impetus to crack on.

Brilliant work Nick, most impressed with the window corner  Have you been playing with a bead roller?

Great stuff. I got a roller for my birthday, it's coming in handy for joddling the edges of repair panels for the Morris. I did practice some lower panel flutes but not got round to anything serious yet.
Keep it up Nick

......and a few steps back. A 2 ft square piece of side panel that has been dented, pushed, pulled, hammered paper thin. Someone talk me out of cutting it out and replacing.273D9F8C-FFCE-4029-A423-6E43F4AC545A.jpeg

You’d need nerves of steel and very steady hands for a good fluted panel

Don' I know it. I'm not going to be that ambitious just door bottom repairs and probably a couple of lower panel repairs. If it all goes wrong Martin will be getting an order.
I've found out that you need to stretch the panel in the opposite direction a little before forming the flutes otherwise it curves as you form them.
That filled section I would cut it out and let a piece in with a joddled edge and fix it with your skin pins or tech screws to line it up. You would need to be very careful seam welding it to stop it warping, I would tack it every inch or so and see how it goes.
You could try heat then rapid cooling to see if you can shrink it back first

i have Found the way forward for stopping warping When welding; take your time, use compressed air to cool each weld down......
only problem is, this is now the straightest part of the panel and shows up lots of “undulations“ in the front of the panel.

That looks great. Is the original panel damaged further along?
You could turn it into a door for outside access to Josie's drinks cabinet ;)
