I got the inner sill sorted and decided to stop putting the inevitable off and attached the new front valance. This is under tension, so was a sod to get in place. I then drilled for the rivets, then countersunk the holes,before applying sikaflex and riveting.
Anybody doing this themselves....The bumper irons are a great aid for fitting the valance. I have lots of sanding and some filling to do before I slap some random paint on.
It was this time last year I was doing the same areas on Bonnie - I trawled the forum for as much info as I could to help me and I found everything I needed to know[^] Nothing like doing it yourself to learn though - it looks so easy when the professionals do it
Having the right kit helps. The shrinker and stretching tools have been a god send. Over summer I can make the next lot of repairs. Lots of guttering to make and the joins on the rear corners are shot.
I am getting to that stage where all the different colours are making it hard to see what is still to do....so I slapped some filler on and she looks like an air fix kit now.
Thanks folks. This is an ongoing project....A little work over winter, but more importantly on the road for Easter every year. 4 more weekends should do it. In a couple of years time she may be ready for a full paint job....until then she will be a patchwork of what ever is handy. The most important thing for us is to use her.
