Made it to newhaven via Bognor Brighton and Eastbourne. Same fauktless behaviour again. Just retarded the ignition slightly to stop a touch of pinking on the mountainous route thay the navigator took. Workking to around 22mpg.
Bonjour from St. Mare Eglise. We arrived at Dieppe 0400 Monday morning and then for some r3asob drove 60 miles along unlit french roads with my lights pointing in completely the wrong direction. Every time we had an car coming at us. I couldn't see the road markings. Arrived at le havre and spent a day at an aire....relaxing and sleeping. Today we drove 170km to st mare église and have are here for two days. Dont believe that france is packed this time of year.. ..it's all a lie to keep everyone away. Doing DDay stuff for a day or two.
Van is behaving and causing a stir. Just needed a pint of oil for 500 miles
I think I have a pair of clip-on yellow headlight deflectors that would fit a Commer!
If you fancy a big beach, try Utah Beach a couple of miles north of the museum (it was deserted at the end of June). I can also recommend the museum at the centre of Arrowmanches and at Pegasus Bridge.
Lol....been back in blighty half a day and I have had to get my hands dirty. My fan belt snapped just outside poole. Luckily I had a spare! I have noticed one of the alternator bolts is missing. Thats what the ping rattle rattle was in France. It means till fixed, the alt is slightly out of line with the crank pulley. Next up yeovil!
It's official. The van doesn't like the uk. In 24hrs have had to replace the fanbelt as mentioned, fuel filter, fuel lines. Oh and the fan controller has packed up, so have had to bypass this and fit a temporary switch... .pffft!
