Well over the last month or so Mr J has been my every day drive.
I travel 75 miles a day to work and back. I wish I could say trouble free but he,s had an overheating problem.
As you know I fitted a new radiator as the old one sprung a leak.
But he still overheated when I was in slow traffic, on the motorway he was fine so I put it down to the Viscous fan coupling so I took the easiest solution and fitted an electric fan and a fan switch to the engine.
This didn’t help infact it made it worse as he was now getting hot on the motorway but better in traffic. My only thought was the electric fan was restricting the air to the radiator.
I went to a local scrap yard to see if I could get a replacement Viscous fan the man there told me not to be a tight xxxx and buy a new one as he could not guarantee any second hand ones.
Been a tight xxxx a Yorkshire man I did not want to buy a new one if this did not cure the problem.
So I drilled some holes through the old coupling and put some self tappers in to make the fan solid and now it’s on all the time.
Eureka Mr J is now as cool as he looks even at high speeds and queuing in traffic.
New Viscous coupling ordered.
So Baz you will be able to admire him in person at the Imp national in Perth next weekend.
Those who are coming to Tatton Park in August will also be able see him.
