Then I tried to fit the gas tank but the one I bought a couple of months ago was bit to big so I have put the doughnut in the boot for the time been :)

Then disaster struck well a little one any way, I managed the crack the nut on the outlet gas pipe union so I now need to fine a new one. [:0][:0]

Well over the last month or so Mr J has been my every day drive.
I travel 75 miles a day to work and back. I wish I could say trouble free but he,s had an overheating problem.

As you know I fitted a new radiator as the old one sprung a leak.

But he still overheated when I was in slow traffic, on the motorway he was fine so I put it down to the Viscous fan coupling so I took the easiest solution and fitted an electric fan and a fan switch to the engine.

This didn’t help infact it made it worse as he was now getting hot on the motorway but better in traffic. My only thought was the electric fan was restricting the air to the radiator.

I went to a local scrap yard to see if I could get a replacement Viscous fan the man there told me not to be a tight xxxx and buy a new one as he could not guarantee any second hand ones.

Been a tight xxxx a Yorkshire man I did not want to buy a new one if this did not cure the problem.

So I drilled some holes through the old coupling and put some self tappers in to make the fan solid and now it’s on all the time.

Eureka Mr J is now as cool as he looks even at high speeds and queuing in traffic.

New Viscous coupling ordered.

So Baz you will be able to admire him in person at the Imp national in Perth next weekend.
Those who are coming to Tatton Park in August will also be able see him.:D[8D]:)

Well done over 12,000 mile (Almost) trouble free in Mr J since completing the Engine transplant :D have averaged 45miles to the gallon (prorata)

But a week or so ago the brakes started squeaking I didn't think much about it, thought I would clean them up when I have a spare hour or so,[:0]

[:(!]But today Heidi & I were on our way to a my Grandsons christening in Yorkshire. Just coming off the motorway junction 22 and S*** no brakes at all :(I eventually managed to stop on the hard shoulder using the hand brake.

The weather was absolutely P****** down and with me in my Sunday best the only thing to do was to call the brake down truck 2 hours later we were back home.

I had a quick look and found the cause of the squeaking[V]

20140126_135239_zps22df4ecd.jpg

and then the I found the cause of the brake failure [V]

So now all I need is a new calliper [V] Rocking horse poo would be easier to acquire.:(

About your calipers, those ears do look light compared to these Sceptre ones for example (scroll down)
