Modified historic Vehicles - future use!

That,s the whole point, you can,t see the non standard mods, yet you have said you don,t agree with mods, and those bikes would fall foul of the proposed laws and be outlawed, still happy with that?
All of them have non standard carbs, one has NJB shocks another has a Grimeca 4ls front hub.

I suppose this is one of those discussions were there will always be two sides and never the twain shall meet, I am an old traditionist who believes a classic vehicle should be just that and if we buy a classic vehicle we should try to save it's originality and not try to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.
This certainly has inspired some healthy debate which, owing to the serious consequences for us, it should. Now lets turn all those words into action and get writing - MP's, MEP's, Ministers and any lobby groups that are acting on our behalf - lets get them working for us.

I suppose the only analogy that I can think of with my love affair with the commer is my love affair with women. I have always loved them for what they are, never tried to get them to have implants or big fat lips or any other adjustments like that but I do like to see them nicely dressed. Anyway it would appear that my views on this subject of modification is upsetting some forum members so thats it, I don't want to become a troll.
in fairness there are a lot of bodge jobbing bell ends out there. but they are in the minority. there are a lot of axe murderers out there as well, does that mean we shouldnt be able to chop wood? my point being that most mods are important. vehicles like kermit would be banned evan though the work has been done correctly and in such a way that he will be better/safer, thats just silly. and lets not forget that things like brake servo's, h4 headlights, and evan silly things like reverse lights would be banned from vehicles that were not manufactured with them. i intend to keep dolly as standard as possible but i will be modernising a few bits to improve reliability and safety and i would like to stiffen the ride up slightly, all of this would be banned, and lets not forget dollies 1 off sun roof. all classics have individual characters, thats why we love them. but its us as the owners who define that character, our vans are meant to represent us, not the EU

At this stage manufacturerers & suppliers need contacting
to make them aware of the situation so they an have an input
to this stage but keep emailing your mps!

Good point Chris. My Bedford CA has never had belts fitted so it looks like if I did decide to retro fit some I would be breaking the law ha ha! and what about the Kenlowe fan it has fitted? thats a no no then, oh and its on radial tyres now because the correct size crossplys are no longer made and it has a side fitted pull out awning, a steel sun visor, an electric fuel pump, copper brake pipes, copper fuel line, ethanol proof rubber fuel line, headlamp peaks, weber carb, stainless exhaust system, 3 core radiator.....OMG! Your off your rocker Les, its quite clear that when it comes to engines mechanics etc you are well out your depth and have no idea what your talking about to make these comments. When exactly did you last drive a commer on the road?? Your telling me your going to get Mr "M" to fit a standard steel exhaust on your van and you are going to have points fitted to keep it STANDARD as you say lol. Lets hope your not planing on using it much as the standard exhaust is a complete joke. Its evolution Les and if it didnt happen you wouldnt be on here or have a computer or internet in your house!! Better get yourself some cross ply tyres on your van to you DANGER man you. But then again as they were fitted from new must be safer!!! Dont know how your goin to get on putting your original fuel in it to as 4star was phased out along time ago which in its self will make your ORIGINAL engine run far hotter than it did back in the day you were last behind the wheel of a commer. Mark my words Les when you actually take to the road in your LULU you will realise while all of us commer owners and daily users carry out these small or large modifications. Its so we can still actually use them on the road and to make our life so much easier. You sound like the kind of bloke who either doesnt have a mobile phone or it still has a big pull up ariel on the one you do have!! You dont have to slap a big V8 to fall short of whats happening is what tim and otheres are trying to say. Even fitting braided brake flexi hoses could be an issue. Open your eyes man[8)][:0]
