I had a phone call from a journo at Yorkshire Post Newspapers last night. They want to feature my van in an article. I will be meeting him at Harewood House classic vehicle show on Sunday..
I`m not holding my breath.
I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.

well the weather in the morning was.... wet! It dried out later with 100`s of visitors. the showboards went down a treat and i was asked to do a parade lap of the arena and interviewed by the commentator.
There was only 2 UK Dodge vehicles on show, mine and an ex London Fire brigade fire engine.
I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.

I watched a programme the other day and they made a custom exhaust using Harley exhausts as side exit boxes... got me thinking. I can buy a pair of non gen ones reasonably cheaply. The only downside is the bloomin spare wheel will be in the way unless I put them with the tailpipe infront of the spare... or fit both on the off side 9or just buy 1 for the offside)
Anybody have any experience with them??

Decided to go with a single for now but using my existing VW Polo centrebox as well. It probably won`t be done before Tatton as I still have a lot of work to do in the house.

I spent the morning under the van trying to sort out the stiff, notchy and noisy steering. I greased most of the nipples, 3 won't take any grease but I knew that and it's on my list.
The cause of the noisy and notchy-ness was the centre pivot in the crossmember/subframe. It was siezing up. It's now not notchy or noisy but still wont self-centre when driving. The front drop arm unit on the chassis wont take any grease and it's dry as a bone. The nipple is clear, looks like it needs to cone off to figure out why. If I cant strip it it will be going in the oven for an hour or so to soften the old grease which will hopefully let me get some fresh in.
I also changed the steering box oil.

Just been told that my van was pictured in the Wakefield Express last week. The pic was taken at the Wakefield show on the 4th of July.

Finally ordered one of those motorbike back boxes... Think chrome Cherry Bomb! Will fit it to the existing VW Polo box and see what happens!

Well its here. The existing system needs some mods to move it forward slightly and to give me the right angle but it`s going to look awesome!! I need to remove the baffles from it though.
