Lilith the V8 racing Spacevan

Bought a different camera for it, fully adjustable too. It's nice and small and fits on the roof through an 8mm hole. Unfortunately it didn't come with a gasket so I made one from stick on foam rubber.

I managed 134 miles today after a stuck needle valve nearly made me turn around.
Went to a Rootes gathering at The Great British Car Journey. So glad I did. Its an amazing place. Trophies and prizes were awarded.. judges special award went to a blue Spacevan with a V8 in it.

OK so.. thanks to the Facebook Post by the organisers I'm now in contact with the engineer who commissioned and registered my van back in 1981!
It stayed in service until 1987 as an Eastern Gas van, based in Colchester. He decommissioned it before it was sold at Bedford Car Auctions.
The van was built white but the lower half and roof were painted French Blue before the stripes, logo and fleet number were added.
It had the Highline interior from new.

Mind blown!

Last weekend I took the van over to Lytham St Anne's for the sea front car show. Another 200 mile round trip. The van behaved flawlessly after I got it out of the drive. The Optima battery decided to crap itself. Luckily a local specialist had one on the shelf.
There were well over 1000 cars, vans, bikes and boats there! Took an hour to get into the show field from my sisters house a mile away! Busiest show I've ever been to with visitors well into the 10,000!
As usual the van received many many compliments as well as 1 guy visibly shaking whilst shouting at my Mrs for allowing a rare vehicle to be ruined! He was "politely"told to return to his motability vehicle..

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but - what an idiot. Hopefully he's happy with his ten year old Prius:rolleyes:

Well I've been busy over the last week or so. The van ceiling is now fitted with proper insulation, battoned out and the top corners boarded with Mill board. There's also an overhead console over the rear doors with speakers in.
I've scrubbed all the paintwork with wire wool and polished with autoglym..
For some reason I can't post photos on here anymore.

There's a limit on the size of files you can upload so if you can reduce the resolution on your phone. Failing that send then to Imgur or similar and post a link from there.
Where did you get the millboard from eventually, I know Bernie is looking for some.

It came from woolies. I got 2 sheets in postage for £60

Just mentioned this is another post regarding photos, for those who want to know how to fix the issue with file sizes, if you have an iphone all you need to do when selecting an image is select it then touch the doube slidey thing with the dots in it at the bottom right of the image I have linked below, you touch that then just choose medium, every photo should then work. :) Hope that helps some of you
