Keep it covered put a rubber on them

It's gently whispering to you - tell it to shut up and turn the radio up ;)
lol not another one whispering to me , there s enough voices in my head already , at least I have plenty of (people )to talk too when out for a drive , the problem is they keep giving me mixed directions , I am always getting lost

Just a suggestion, my van was a bit spluttery on start up for a while , anyway I was trying to fix my rear lights during the day and by accident left my lights on and ran the battery down , luckily I have a charger so charged it up and since it has been charged my van ,hang on till I touch wood , anyway it now starts better runs better , since the battery has a being charged , I was always under the assumption that the battery had no effect on how the engine runs and that u dont actually need a battery once the engine is running ,ie u can take it out after starting the van , obviously u wont have electrics, anyway thought I would mention this as some people only use there Van's for small runs so battery may not be charged enough and may be causing some of how there engines are running . It's like a different van since I charged battery , even thou before charging it it would start the van .

I quite often put my battery on charge during the year and always charge them up before a trip. Also it’s good practice to store a battery fully charged as it prolongs its working life.

The £12 battery conditioners from Lidl are great for winter lay up. What ever is in the garage and not being used has got one connected.

Thanks panky for the heads up happy healthy new year to u , I will have a look at it, it should work with the positive earth on my van , or I can just disconnect my battery and hook it up that way , I want to keep van positive earth so will get a converter thingy . Touch wood ,at the moment the van is a pleasure to drive , I was out today in it and it drove the best since I have it , I bled the slave cylinder and gear change is lovely and smooth ,still trying to figure out reverse as it's so close to second gear , is it push down for reverse? I can get it easy sometimes but other times I just turn off engine and then put into reverse, it's no big deal , I am still having issue with my rear headlights , will only work if I turn switch all the way , of I only turn switch once the rear headlight function wont come on but my front lights work, my heart is the frame of the lights touching the bodywork. I cleaned the contacts on switch with contact spray but still no joy , one of my indicators works but its slower than other side, anyway happy new year

Thanks soupdragon , happy new healthy year, I need to drive it longer distances to keep it running properly so i drive it as much as i can , all weathers , i have done whatever it needs to stop the weather eating it , anyway happy new year

No reverse is firm push to the right and down, no need to push or pull the lever up or down. not sure on the connections for the charger so best disconnect the battery first.

I have being pushing to the left and down close to second gear, quick ?Do
the wheel nuts just open like a modern car , like lefty down to loosen ect

Yep wheel nuts normal right hand thread. Yours must be an early gearbox then, I thought reverse on those was to the left then up but you learn something new every day.

If you disconnect the wires from the switch and then join them one at a time to the common wire does that fix the rear light problem. Basically bypassing the switch to eliminate a switch fault otherwise How easy is it to trace the wires coming out of the light switch to see where the rear light wires join in case they are somehow connected to main beam wires instead of the sidelight wires.

I have had a good look at them all seems good but still no rear lights when switch is turned to first position but work when switch turned all the way , I am just going to get some new bulbs and see if that sorts it , my earth is the light fitting itsself , anyway thanks soupdragon.

Thanks panky , I cant seem to find some of my threads from a couple of years ago , any idea what may have happened them? For that reason i may be asking ? I have already asked but because i cant find them i cant look them up

This is the earliest I can find

It can’t be a bulb problem as they work. I reckon it’s either the switch or they’re wired weirdly with main beam. Does dip/full beam make a difference?

Fyi. Just had a google about positive earth battery charging. All batteries are the same and it’s the earth that’s different so connect the charger to battery as you normally would. Your uneasiness may be because When jump starting a vehicle you quite often clamp the negative jump lead to an engine mount or chassis but you mustn’t do that on your van or the world will explode. Basically if crocodile clips always go on battery terminals and not bits of chassis etc you won’t have a problem.

Thanks panky , I found that one , it's the one about rostyle wheels I was looking for , maybe it's in the middle of another thread as I do be all over the place , I have read other peoples threads on it but I am sure in my thread someone said I dont need spacers that they should fit straight on were as in other threads its alot of different answers, so a bit confused. I will have a look again later, I also sorted out the condensation by placing a large sheet off cardboard
up to the inside roof at night , bone dry inside without a cover thanks, panky
