Fontaine's first week

Ah yes, do they run off the leisure and the car battery? Basically the earth is through the seat belt mounts but when I unbolted the mount from the cab floor to sand, and ad the car bat connected, the mount, when touching metal (door frame for example) sparks!

Unless the radio or lights are on then you shouldn't be getting a spark. Seat belt mount? Which earth is connected to that - is it the leasure battery.
Do the batteries connect through a split charger? it could be that one is drawing current from the other.

I think it is the main battery earth- Tim will know if that is wrong. If I put the mount against the metal and it sparks, the radios aerial rises (its electronic). We thought it may be because the radio has been wired to play when parked up- as the old ignition switch does not have two turns before firing up like on modern cars. ie in my daily with the key out of the ignition i have nothing live in my car, one turn and i can put the radio on, two turns and the windows will work and then the third to start it!

Fontaine should be back on the road Sunday - after almost 3 months of ongoings. I'll get some pics posted of the inside cab painting job that we have done (looks really good). We are so excited, yet massively apprehensive. We will have to arrange a test run back down the A1 to Chris and Tims - staying well clear of the new classic car/ bikes spa area that you have set up - she'll not want to leave again!

Not quite! But about 3 months that she has been unwilling to do more than a few miles before giving up! I am certain everything WILL be fine this time!

- yep! How very daft are we!?

Well, Fontaine came to life agiain today!! I was so happy - but sadly Cara was working and couldn't come for a drive :(

She drove well, sounds like she is backfiring a bit, and she is running a bit rich (both carb problems?) The timing is going to be look at this week if it can be, so hopefully that should sort it. The gear linkage was out a little so I have had a play myself to rectify it - All the letters P/R/N/D worked correctly when I set off (I was very pleased with myself :D) however on my return P had turne to reverse [xx(] so i'll look again. I have lost a clip for it though near the stick end, so could just be jumping around!

Firstly a bit of primer/undercoat went on (2 coats) followed by 2 coats of thinned satin gloss with those spongey rollers. We then put on the new gasket bit from Mr Maltas -

Then, we decided the satin finish was a little too dull so we applied some glossy gloss -

Even the screw heads got a slap of paint -

Then everything was covered back up again in cab carpet....[:0]

A bit of black paint for the handbrake and thats it done - almost. We have the other side to carpet, but just want to get the engine as good as possible before refitting everything! The passenger side is the carb side. We decided to re-carpet due to heat/sound issues. But the doors and side of the cab looks great. We have some speakers to fit in and have a kick board to copy from Chris and Tim.

sounds like the carb is a bit rich, and its just adjustment for the gear linkage ;)

Thanks guys - should I be worried that I have a pot full of nuts and bolts left over!? I think i will carry them around with me for a while just incase. Its more to add to my growing tool box. My pops treated us to some spanners and what not. Although the socket set (which was VERY cheap) after one/two bits of use seems to be wearing away. I'm either choosing the wrong sockets, or as I suspect, they are made of sugar :D:D

We hope so! Shall try get her timing/richness sorted this week and then on her mission next week - if thats alright for you time wise?
I may pick the part up sooner though - i'll give the guy a call tomorrow.
