Fontaine's first week

The duck almost finished us off! I can not belive all it did was chip a bit of paint! No doubt that will now become rust infested and we will need a new front end because that is what Fontaine does! I've found the saviour i hope. Have emailed it to you! Brand new is more costly, but she needs all the help she can!

Fontaine is getting an early christmas present (thanks to my pops, and him getting narked with her sat in the way, on the drive).

Fingers AND toes crossed that she shall be up and running again in a week or two so she can take a journey down to cambs.....if she's welcome allowed!

Chris and Tim, her present won't be sent to you again, i managed to remember this time on ebay! However, you should recieve a little thank you from Fontaine tomorrow :)

I think there maybe a few hurdles on the way so still nothing definate :(

Just a quick update - carb fitted and engine idles nicely. As with Fotaine, next comes the BAD news - the engine is being starved of fuel. It is playing silly buggers [:(!]. So on thurs we are going to have to see if its a blockage in the pipe or if its the pump, but very little is going to the filter.

oh no!!! Not another problem... lets just hope its Fontaine's way of getting all her niggles done in one go :)

oh no [:0] it is possible that there is a bit of swarf in the tank feed, while i make every effort to clean them out you never know :I
if you can, get a airline to the carb end and blow it back ;)

Oh dear it's never ending! Unlikely, but is it possible that the tank isn't venting properly? Could be worth taking the fuel cap off??? I'm sure it's something simple whatever the problem is though.
 
Thanks for all the replies, I think the first plan of action will be as you say Tim, see if the pipe is clear. We will drop the tank as well as the sender nit does work I think but when filled we shw empty and vice versa!

Chamba, a guy helping us with the carb mentioned about a venting pipe, does it run out of the tank, or a through the fuel cap type thing. He mentioned that in theory it stops the tank causing to much of a vacuum and sucking its own tank through the engine. I was not really paying too much attention, I was too busy giving evils too Fontaine.

But it explains why we struggled getting home from the Commer meet anyhow. And I self diagnosed which is another thumbs up to our own personal 'Mr Miyagi' - Tim!

Not sure about the vent theory - if that gets blocked or kinked then the tank can get pressurised and fuel is pushed up the filler line and out of the cap (it happened to me:I), and the vent joins the filler pipe anyway - unless there is a really tight seal on the cap, it's the easiest thing to check so give it a go. More likely to be a blockage in the fuel line - the last remnants of the old tank haunting you [:0]. Or the fuel pump could be knackered[xx(], have you still got the one off the old engine to try.

oo-err, so the sender works in reverse [?] it could be that it is opposite earth to fonty [}:)]
so long as the cap is venting all is well in that department.
if you are taking the tank off again then give it another flush out just in case some idiot left swarf in there :I;)

The next installment....melted alternator (hopefully jut the casing), starter motor (casing for the cables)...[V][xx(]
