You are about 90 miles from us Paul, so it would be worth your while coming to see us to collect the bits as we probably have some other bits you need. Not looking for much cash, tenner will do

cheers tim, your a star lol. and funnily enough greg it is mint lol. sooo sweet lol. on the plus side i mock fitted my air filter today. JUST fitted in the space but i may have to make a small heatshield as it sits about 2" from the carb and manifold. when fitted the pipe still sits about 1.5" to high. so may need a bulge in the bonnet[V]
I Was thinking of a possible mod to sort this out. does anyone know if the small curve from the carb to the air filter will pass an mot if cut?
was thinking if i cut it by the red line it would be 1.5"-2" lower so would clear the standard bonnet and the K&n will still go straight on. did try whipping the curve off and turning it round the other way but it hits the rocker cover[!]

Take the bend off and see if you can make a little stub stack to bolt on in its place, that way you can mount the filter on the other side - no bulge required
couldnt fit he filter in the other side mate but that suits perfect where it is, its litterally just the bend in the pipe by the carb that sits high. if i can cut it there without it failing the mot then that should work a treat. but do you mean make up an adapter so the air filter pipe comes staright off instead of curving up?

Yes that's right, or a thick packing piece between the carb and the bend should push it out enough to clear the rocker box. There should be plenty of room on the other side for the filter, a lot cooler over there as well
It,s got nothing to do with the MOT, but plenty to do with airflow. Those bends are quite restrictive, something like a stub stack or short ram pipe with a radiused end would be much better and come out straight of the carb

yh thats true i wonder if it will fit in the same place over there. got it mounted with 2 bolts going through the pocket behind the front seat. nice fit that side but the other side there is a little electrical box junction (not sure what it is lol)
