Considering selling my van.

I still haven't fixed mine,:oops: I keep an extra filter on-board and a bicycle pump:D. I use the bike pump when the snake skin blocks/partially blocks the pickup tube in the tank to blow it back.
I have cleaned the tank out a couple of times and found avoiding ETHANOL makes a massive difference,, i have only had snakeskin problems once in the last twelve months. Last time i cleaned the tank it was a lot cleaner than i had expected it to be. If possible pay a little more and avoid fuel with added ETHANOL.
 
Thanks, the journey will be around 10 miles. My mates going to follow me, my first adventure will be up to my small holding with my little girl. The hardest thing will be convincing my wife to get back in our van, after the beautiful days trip :mad:she needs a little ecouragement.;)
 
unlucky - my wife drove the six speed for the first time properly two weekends ago - my frustration is that she was far better at it than I was... and now sees that as the reason to do all the driving... Grrrr
 
My vans home, took her for a long run this morning.......everything seems fine. She had to contend with some traffic lights :mad:. The mixture screw should be fine as age was ticking over nicely. Pics to follow soon.
 
Can't see any, ticked over fine at all the lights. The choke doesn't come out as far now, maybe needs a slight adjustment. Going for a night out when the clocks go forward. Changed the oil aswell.
 
Make sure the choke is fully opening when you push it back in, would want you to be riding round half-choked;)
 
Pull the bend off the top of the carb so you can see inside. Pull the choke out and you should see a flap close the intake off, push the choke back in and the flap should fully open.
 
I've done the few jobs, the chokes fine with the flap closing and opening as it should. When I pull the choke out the revs seem to be staying at the same point. It's starting fine, could it be down to the mixture screw? Or is it a case of waiting for the engine to warm up.
 
As the choke flap closes out a linkage opens the throttle a little bit. This can be adjusted easily by a screw on the side of the carb, watch the bits that move on the outside of the carb as you pull the choke on and you will see what I mean. But if you are happy with it then leave it as it is.
 
It's not the mixture screw. There is a cam on the side of the carb that turns as you pull the choke out and this pushes against a screw that turns the throttle spindle, turn the screw in and it will increase the revs as you pull the choke out but make sure the screw isn't touching the cam when the choke is off.
 
Sorry Andrew I think I've put you onto a bum steer, I cant find a throttle stop on the Zenith carb, been working on SU's for too long:rolleyes: There is a linkage that connects the choke to the throttle that opens it slightly when the choke is pulled on, there's no adjustment on this linkage.
 
She started fine again today, took her for a little spin. Can't wait for my first trip of the year, got a few friends joining me, hopefully we can have a nice fire and some rum.
