Well, after starting work on the maxus in the 11th November, initially to change the turbo - a day short of a month later I am sitting waiting for the MOT to be completed. During this time, working outside and now a Maxus expert, I have been through 3 engines and a whole lot of patience.
First original engine had a buggered turbo and bits of piston ring in the sump. The first replacement engine although running lovely and sweet, hada crack somewhere in the block, or a shifted liner and leaked 4 litres of coolant into the sump, so third time lucky hopefully.........
At least I now know how to turn the heater on...

It passed! Hurray, my life can go back to normal again. I have almost been losing the will to get out of bed in the morning.
Had a couple of advisories, the load sensing valve linkage is missing which I need to source, and the handbrake needs some adjustment - oh, and I had forgotten to so up two bolts securing the front bumper to the valance, and it still smokes a lot under hard acceleration, but that is due to the amount of soot in the exhaust from the blown turbo, so the examiner got it down a bit to within limits, nice man.
So, now I have a month's backlog of work for my normal business to catch up with.
Christmas dinner? Nah, only do that on the 25th to keep my mum happy....

Any one out there used their Commer to pick up the XMAS tree?
We picked ours up on Sunday from a local Farm/ Garden Centre, to much surpise the farmer came out and told me the story of how they had cut the sides out of a van to produce a milk float in the sixties!
Obviously never let him go near Rupert just in case he got a flashback.

YEP!!! t'was the only vehicle i had that was big enough [8D] , less messing about as it would have been a nightmare trying to squeeze it in the back of a vauxhall tigra and i'd been using it as my daily driver anyway as my son was borrowing the tigra as his modern Audi A3 was in being repaired[V]
