Clutch replacement

Fit a new pressure plate as well (clutch kit usually has all three parts) and have a new spigot bearing oiled and ready (fits into end of crank).
Much easier and quicker to fit all these in one go than have to split the engine and box several times to do it piecemeal.

change the core plug in the back of the engine,its only accessible with the gearbox out and is the one that has the highest failure rate

Clutch pressure plate? - don't i have that already?? as part of the big round plate sized thing Speedies sennt me??
Spigot bearing?? Goes around splined shaft??
Yes, help would be nice, but am on my own[V]... managed it ok last time using a smaller jack to take the weight as i slid it back on.

Clutch kit comes in 3 bits. Small round bearing is the release bearing. Large spinning plate is the friction plate. Large 'concave' round piece with springs is the pressure plate/cover.
Spigot bearing is a push fit into the hole in the end of the engine crankshaft, the gearbox 'shaft' that passes through the clutch assembly fits into it. The old one can be a bitch to get out so if it's not worn just leave it there and keep the new one submersed in oil until you need to change it.

Got box off, and clutch plate/cover off.
As i thought, the clutch plate and release bearing are not worn much at all!?!??
Could the whirring/rubbing noise (which is why I'm replacing the clutch plate) only heard when the clutch is pressed, be the release bearing not pivoting in the holder arm?? - as it seems a little stiff??
Other than that, I am a bit afraid that i will replace the plate and r/bearing only to here the noise again??

New spigot bearing is best soaked in oil at least overnight. It absorbs the oil and self lubricates in use. My Dad (old school engineer) used to put them in oil then heat up the oil. This has two benefits: The heat expands the spigot bush making the microscopic voids within larger and therefore easier for the oil to get in and it also makes the oil thinner meaning it flows into the voids easier. Once cooled down the bush is packed full of oil. He always used normal engine oil.
