yes i think the hornets nest is really gettin poked alot at this point, when people have a go at stuff and it dont really work then thats genuinely called a bodge ! but when someone has drawings with spec sheets/dimentions and such like, its not really a bodge is it ? this commer came as a pickup, then it had a rear caravan styled body built on to it, so what if im makin the rear longer, wider and using a far superior power plant, electrics, drive train along with power steering, aircon, cruise control, electric windows and central locking ...... is this really so wrong ? ? ? yes we all like to go camping but aint it great to stay in a 5 star hotel ! ! ! 4,5 ltr V8 engine, if you can do your sums or if not buy a calculator, work out LPG against petrol or diesel, the larger the engine the better mpg you get on gas, it far outways cost wise the other fuel types, but you go and try to buy a donor car with all these requirements ? or is it just the "PORSCHE" word that gets up peoples noses ? i came from a cosworth into a 911, ive never had such ignorant drivers on the roads, cut me up, block me in and generally harsh behavour towards me ! and i get all the chat saying its only a VW with 2 extra cylinders, aint people are ignorant .... dont they know that hitler commendered Mr Porsche to design and build the VW beetle (VW means peoples car) or is it just the fact i bought a commer van for £450 from the scrapyard yes the scrapyard and then bought a 928 at £3000 to use as the donor car ? ? ? hmmmmm the mind does wonder sometimes, but tell me is the commer engine/electrics/gearbox/axle/steering cutting edge ? or is 60's engineering far superior to nowadays ? remember this 928 is only 6 years younger than the commer, i guess i am a really a bad boy by running an engine on gas, or my work van on bio diesel ? (oh yeah rudolf diesel was a german who invented an internal combustion engine to run on pea nut oil before the purests hang me, by running on used cooking oil ! also what about if i converted the back of the commer into a hearse, would you not like your last drive in a beloved commer or would you state in your will "ITS NOT ORIGINAL" RIP
