Not a nice job at the best of times, there is always one inaccessible or seized bolt and it is always the last one. I struggled replacing the matrix on the Punto several years ago.
We got back from five hour drive in Harvey and parked up, switched the engine off but left the fan and water pump running to cool things down. What's that noise ? A high pitched squealing coming from under the engine cover. Lifting the lid and the sound got even louder -I suspected the Davies Craig water pump had finally minced it's bearing and although it wasn't leaking it was time to for new.
I found the best deal was from Oz Parts on eBay, cheaper than elsewhere and £50 cheaper than the one I bought all those years ago when I first got Harvey back on the road, 2009 I think.
The new one is made from cast aluminium, unlike the originals that were injection moulded plastic, and is a slightly more compact design but seems to pump just as well.
