Erm.... Looks that way :-( just waiting for a couple of panels from Mr maltas ;-)

Anybody know what thickness sheet steel I should repair the floor with?
 
1 mm will be fine for flooring but go a but thicker if you need to do any chassis repairs.

Looking forward to getting the front inner and outer door repairs off Mr Maltas so I can just line up, cut, weld and done.

Just a word of caution - is that Aquasteel you've used to prime the repair? if it is then rub it off and use primer, Aquasteel is rubbish on clean new metal and any filler you put over it, and the top, coat will flake off:( Brilliant on rusty stuff though

Yeah was wondering that. I usually spread it everywhere and then sand back to apply filler or primer. My intention being for it to remain in any nooks and crannies. Might be completely wrong?!?!

But hey, I have metal where there was holes :)
 
Sounds like a plan and yes you do have some nice new metal in there. Jobs a goodun:)
 
Interestingly after removing the fibreglass filler from the previous bodge, I decided to give the new uneven welds a coat of fibreglass filler due to the lack of there being any increase in rust / rot in the areas that were bodged. then top off with normal filler.
A quick search on the internet revealed that this is quite a common thing to do due to the fibreglass fillers waterproof properties.
 
Normal practice to give a skim over a repair like that. As long as there's no underneath it should last for years.
 
Slow progress but happy progress!
I have been applying thin layers of filler for the last 2 nights and have been able to do a few more tonight. A good sanding in-between each coat of filler until it felt smooth from every direction and the dips disappeared. Curve feels pretty good to my hands.
Then applied a couple of good coats of Hi Build primer and now its ready for some more sanding with finer grit, primer, sanding... until I am happy.
If I get a door a week primered than that is good enough for me as there is very little filling / work to be done on the main body of the van. I am so pleased I have a straight van!

Plenty to attack now, along with a fuel pump, fuel lines, water pump all to fit. :)
 
And they are perfect, they fit great:)
I did Bonnie's cab doors and I found it easier to blend in the seam by cutting the repair panel down to about half way between the top edge and the flutes. You can re-create the joddle on the edge by attaching a strip of metal on the new edge with self tappers
 
It hasn't been forgotten. Just had to make a coffee table, cabinet, gate etc in-between. back on it now...
