Thanks soupdragon , I was thinking of changing it to an alternater so it would be negative earth , but as touch wood it's running so well I dont want to change anything ,, i even have new parts for the engine but as the saying goes if it ain't broke dont fix it , OFF now for a drive ,,, SUN is Shining hereFyi. Just had a google about positive earth battery charging. All batteries are the same and it’s the earth that’s different so connect the charger to battery as you normally would. Your uneasiness may be because When jump starting a vehicle you quite often clamp the negative jump lead to an engine mount or chassis but you mustn’t do that on your van or the world will explode. Basically if crocodile clips always go on battery terminals and not bits of chassis etc you won’t have a problem.
