Lilith the V8 racing Spacevan

Great idea - since I skimmed and put new shoes in the front the handbrake is much higher and nearly up my jacksie when I get out - need to adjust it down

And with many thanks to the genius that is Bernie @Gladys Crew there is a piggyback circuit and switch on their way that will give me a dashboard warning light for when the handbrake is on.

The electric handbrake in my Fiat has a warning light in the switch which is mounted in the centre console. The handbrake on my XK8 is mounted to the right of the driver's seat like the Commer, but sits down in the horizontal position whether on or off, so remains out of the way when getting in or out. To release it, you lift the lever, depress the button and lower it. To engage it you lift it, release the button and let drop down again. I don't know whether one could be adapted for a Commer.

That's interesting.. I've got a warning light and switch but I may look into that at some point. Thanks

I'm currently struggling to get the warning light to work correctly. Bernie is on the case though.
The control panel needs to see a double click from the switch before it moves the ram. This is causing the issues with the light as it turns on or off with the first click meaning the brake could still be on but with the light off and vice versa.

I assume it’s electric switch rather than hydraulic etc? Could you not splice into the wire between switch and ram and make that the +ve feed for lamp? Or a reed switch? Mind you I have no idea how electric hand brakes work

I cant as the control unit cuts the power at a preset current draw. The light would go out

Just picked up a landrover defender handbrake cable for £12, should work for the electric handbrake

Well after a few weeks of no motivation due to frozen buckets in the garage (new roof needed) I've tested and adjusted the actuator to 15kg pull. (Max is 20 so it shouldn't be too stressed if its enough).
I've also made up the mounting plate and cable adapter for it.
I'm hoping to rivnut it to the back of the crossmember just above the propshaft.

Unfortunately the time has taken its toll on the hastily applied decals and dulux paint..
