I was trying to work out what it was ! Thohght ir might be a porche on me mob
The original was a very underrated car over here, but is now being appreciated. Won Monte Carlo a few times!
Back in the day when we used to stand in freezing Welsh forests waiting for cars to go by, we always knew them as Renaults rightly or wrongly, mainly to distinguish them from Sunbeam Alpines I suppose. I'd never heard of the A110 bit till I looked it up on Google images. I'm no expert on the subject. There must have been a degree of "Badge engineering" going on, and a very strong association between the companies.
I could never unravel the ins and outs of things like Sprites, Midgets and Healys either.
Crackin' motor though. What's it worth? 50 grand? 100 grand plus?.

Midgets are badge engineered Sprites. Sprites came first and were marketed as an Austin Healey. The Healey part was later dropped so they were then Austin Sprites. All Sprites ceased production in the early 70s. The Healey Frogeye was a 90's recreation of the Mk1 Sprite and was made with the blessing of the Healey family (I had the last one made I believe).
The Alpine 110 is pronounced "Alpeen" so differentiating it from the Sunbeam Alpine is easy!

We were heading West to see some folks, so made it a long weekend in Cornwall. Different part this time, around Lansallos on the South Coast.
Lovely little National Trust Campsite right next to the church. It's a half-mile walk to the beach along the old fisherman's track, complete with cart wheel ruts in the rock.
The NT staff at Restormel Castle tipped us off that it was "LostFest" in Lostwithiel on Sunday, so we Park'n'rode into town, and found a lot going on. Loads of street food and music of all descriptions, like the Lostwithiel Town Band.................
...................a Latin group (they were really good)............
...............and a Sea Shanty group (think Fishermen's Friends etc). Makes you realise how important Cornishness is to them.
Paused at Lerryn to watch the Spring tides flooding the car park. Didn't stay long!
Monday was Polruan.........................
....................the boatyard was full of trawlers being refitted. (Sorry no photo) It makes a change to see a busy shipyard.
Tuesday we spent the morning on Bodmin Moor................

Fabulous long weekend. Now back to the building work.

Bank Holiday weekend there was a good turnout of Commers at the Uffington White Horse Show in Oxfordshire.
Well, two Commers anyway.......................and both of them were mine.
There's a nice Bedford CA Debonaire, with a classic Dormobile on the far side and an HA Viva poptop this side. The Viva is snug, to say the least. I've always liked the look of the Debonaire, but after being given a conducted tour, I think I'll stick with the Jennings.
It was Hot!

First things first........it's not Pootle. It's Beryl.
Sally drove Beryl, I drove the Karrier. Our daughter lives in Uffington, so we don't need much of an excuse to go there.

Just checked the map, and it doesn't seem to be that extremely far from you anyway. But still a drive, obviously.

There's a bit of nostalgia going on here. My parents had a 1961 CA Martin Walter Utilabrake (they couldn't afford a proper Dormobile), and we went to France, Norway (twice) Sweden, and all over the UK in it.
Nice line up Colin, I like the HA Viva but a bit small for me now a days.
