The Commer manual is better, you need to make some dummy shafts to knock out the selector shafts and lay shaft - the measurements are there. You can down load it from the home page if you haven't got a copy:)

:) Picked up said gearbox and things turn and shift so thats promising. Just some thoughts on gear raitios after reading the 6 speeder thread.

Commer: Hunter:
1.00 1.00
1.51 1.392
2.33 2.141
4.07 3.353

It has been a couple of years since Jennings was on the road but I do remeber 1st being a bit of a crawler gear. Is it the bell housing that differs due to the slant on the Hillman engine[?] I`m just wandering if I could use the hunters "close ratio[8D]" gearbox and o/d with a bit of spannering of bell housings/shafts etc[?]

Sorry to keep asking for more answers....:I:)

Yes it is the bell housing, it's at a slant but also longer. The method I described earlier(swapping bell housing, fitting Commer input shaft with Hillman first gear) means you will retain the Hillman box and ratios:)
