HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!

Will was saying the high bidder was a darksider with 2 splitties who had been to visit jay.
Not sure if that high bidder was the same when we spoke as who won though

I think that's about a right price

Hi All..
Your right John, Jay has been bought by a nice guy called Jason..
He has a couple of splitties in his colection, but has allways
had a soft spot for Commers..
Dont know if he will post as i dont think he is an active net user
(prob like myself!!) but I think he has viewed the forum, and I will mention it to him again when he collects tomorrow..
He is based near Keighley, so not too far from Commerland..
I shall mention Martin and Karrens Commerfest to him..
As for the price, I agree with John that it was about right..
I love the Idea of Commer ownership of Not being elite, and not part of a select few. Ok Its nice to recieve recognition for work put into a project, but (and I know a few wont belive me) it never started as that for me. It was all about being a bit different, and not just having a faceless and souless box of a modern camper, I first fell for the Commers charm when we collected Daves "Hut"..
This is I guess the same reason most of you are here? It was never about the persuit of cash.
In some ways I hope it stays this way, and as long as you get out of it what goes in then thats what counts.
Coaster will be a Rat!!
Cheers :)

Know exactly what you mean Will [^] good luck with the new project ;)

I agree with you totally Will, when I get one it will be for the fun of owning one, not for the hope that they'll soar in price in a few years. I definately wouldn't want to be part of an elite group either, Commers for everyone I say, but being part of a friendly knowledgable group is always good, whatever vehicle you have. :)

I love all 4 wheeled vehicles, irrespective of age, (apart from Mondeos and Focus').

This time next year Rodders Commer Fans, we'll all not be millionaires!

Peggy's been camping!

If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

I can't get my head around this modern Rat term, Will.
Something to do with my age I think.
Scruffy I get. Rough I get.
Ours is more Unrestored/MOT'd/necessary work in between kind of a state.
A certain patina hard to value!

Rat look is something I associate with the Darkside generally, although it hasbled out to encompass most other manufacturers in the last few years.
Basically, the vehicle is completely roadworthy, but looks like a rusting hulk. Personally, I don't see the attraction, but each to his/her own.

Personally i like a good Rat, but it has to be good. A lot like the Beetle in the last pic. As you say, it's down to your own taste but yeah!

The look originated in california, as a reaction against the over restored VW show dollies that were very popular in the late 90s.
Rats usually have upgraded powerplants so you are doubly surprised when something outburns you that is 1) 40+ years old 2) looks like it just got dragged out of a barn. I have been paid good money to "degrade" paintwork...... [:0]

Cheers

I wondered where it had came from, cheers. I don't think I could take the money to do something like that, but then I don't have to rely on things like that to make a living.

I daresay that split screen VW went in for a bare metal re-paint and only recieved an inadequate thin coat of primer.
Then left outside for the elements to do their work!

It must
be art because it does'nt seem practical to me.

Hi Greg and all..
What I realy mean is that I wont have the time
to do a full resto, and as its v original will
just replace the nececary panels. and not
go as far as I did with Jay..
This will be when I get time to do it..
I deff wont be trying to degrade it further and
it will prob just look a bit tatty,
Tat look!:D

Not Yet Pete. Its locked away in a garage til I get time
to work on it.
I guess that will be early 2011..
Cheers..
