Be fair, I did mention the use for storing those dry, crusty little turned up edge off cuts you get if the Spam has been in the fridge to long [xx(]. I use them for Spam surprise :D

I will leave you then with the knowledge that spam gets its' traditional pink colour from the addition of sodium nitrate which renders it unpalatable to bacteria (and some people) and that during world war 2 the US military purchased more than 150 million pounds of spam (as food supplies, not artillery)
