Sound the same , left side back , dip stick area or lowerNo the alternator or fan will not spin without the belt fitted,
definitly not a knocking , sounds more of a bad rattle ,I only let it run for aSound the same , left side back , dip stick area or lower
van starts on the button , I dont know but really appreciate all the help , .Tow truck it is then , at least then someone can be listening outside whilst I turn it over. Thanks again everyoneWithout hearing the actual noise I'm lost
Sorry panky do u mean over the rear spring or thru it and around the spring its self ? Would it be ok to put a strap around just the rear axle itsself .If you do need to get recovered ask the guy to pull it on backwards, he can loop a strop around one of the rear springs without fear of damaging anything.
Great thank uAround the axle would be fine as long as the petrol tank doesn't get in the way. Otherwise around the spring, the driver will know where to strap it.
Its make the noise when not being drivenThis is probably a stupid suggestion but have you checked the wheel arches to see if there's a bag or something stuck in there rubbing against the tyre?
Stressful I have a combover hairstyle now that I didnt have a week ago , the problem here in Ireland is mechanics wont touch older Van's, I am fairly mechanically minded once I know what the problem is , i found the other bolt for the alternater but i thought u just had to loosen the adjusting bolt to remove fan belt ? Can videos be uploaded on here as I could put a video up of the sound ? I am on my way back up to it to have a good look around the gear box and clutch housing hoping to find some metal shavings , anyway I look good with a combover , in a week all the trendy youngsters will asking ther barber to give them the combover style . Ah the Joy's of motoringBlimey that all sounded quite stressful. You could always ask the recovery chap to have a listen. With a bit of luck he might know. I thought alternator only had 2 bolts. Leaving it overnight may clear your mind. Good luck with the rescue.
