Van driven but making loud dragging noise

Sorry meant don't send a beaver tail truck ask for a tilt and slide truck
Thanks for tow truck suggestion, I took out the adjusting bolt to pull alternater belt off now I cant pull alternater back , is there another bolt to loosen somewhere , I have tried start it because I am afraid fan will hit the alternator because I cant pull it back to were it was

Give it a quick start to see if the noise has gone
when i took adjusting bolt out to get belt off I had to pull alternater for belt to come off now I cant pull it back to original position , is there another bolt I can loosen ,

Why can I pull alternater back to original position , I am afraid fan may hit it , or will fan even spin , no belt on it

Sound the same , left side back , dip stick area or lower
definitly not a knocking , sounds more of a bad rattle ,I only let it run for a
few seconds , I dont think it's the engine , could it be clutch release bearing or ?

Without hearing the actual noise I'm lost
van starts on the button , I dont know but really appreciate all the help , .Tow truck it is then , at least then someone can be listening outside whilst I turn it over. Thanks again everyone

Thanks everyone who helped , I am just going to get it towed home and go from there , really appreciate all the help , much appreceated The best way I could describe the noise is like tinfoil being crunched up , that's for now but I am tired so dont know what way I am thinking , Night all

If you do need to get recovered ask the guy to pull it on backwards, he can loop a strop around one of the rear springs without fear of damaging anything.
Sorry panky do u mean over the rear spring or thru it and around the spring its self ? Would it be ok to put a strap around just the rear axle itsself .

Around the axle would be fine as long as the petrol tank doesn't get in the way. Otherwise around the spring, the driver will know where to strap it.

This is probably a stupid suggestion but have you checked the wheel arches to see if there's a bag or something stuck in there rubbing against the tyre?

After thinking more and a lot of google searches , and were the noise seems to be coming from , back of engine and not front as originally thought with engine lid down I am thinking clutch bearing thingy as apparently it can make a similar noise, on the day a couple of days prior I was at certain times having difficulty engaging gears , not all the times but occasionally , anyway , I am having it towed today 80 euro by a local man with plenty of good reviews , I know I am thinking ahead but if it is the engine that's effed what engine is a good option with no major modifications to fit, vintage engine

Blimey that all sounded quite stressful. You could always ask the recovery chap to have a listen. With a bit of luck he might know. I thought alternator only had 2 bolts. Leaving it overnight may clear your mind. Good luck with the rescue.

Stressful I have a combover hairstyle now that I didnt have a week ago , the problem here in Ireland is mechanics wont touch older Van's, I am fairly mechanically minded once I know what the problem is , i found the other bolt for the alternater but i thought u just had to loosen the adjusting bolt to remove fan belt ? Can videos be uploaded on here as I could put a video up of the sound ? I am on my way back up to it to have a good look around the gear box and clutch housing hoping to find some metal shavings , anyway I look good with a combover , in a week all the trendy youngsters will asking ther barber to give them the combover style . Ah the Joy's of motoring
