tools you cant do without when restoring a commer

are there any special tools you have that make/made restoring your commer a million times easier.
mig welder, compressor and a good quality air sander are my top 3.
 
I know mine's not a Commer, but I would add a panel beating set and a broom (for sweeping up the piles of rust which appear underneath). :D

i know of a hard job to do when restoring a commer, and you really need a proper tool for doing it. putting the little bloody clips onto the door weather strip, because when you wind the window right down the glass is just slightly still in the way, especially if you have pork sausages for fingers haha. and if you wind it right up its a really tight squeeze trying to shove your hand up inside the door through the little bloody door opening and getting to the correct position properly. there is a proper tool i think involved for doing this process, where you sit the clip into the tool and then slid it down inti the door from above, and then you have too pull it up hard to force the clips on. but i havent got one of these unfortunatly, so i have to persist with the other methods, haha.[V];):p

To do the ones on my Herald I used an old teaspoon with the tip of the handle bent double to sit the clip into, bend the spoon end over for a hand grip and you have the perfect tool for the job :)

I managed it with an 8" strip of steel (about 1/2" wide) with the bottom 1/2" bent up. it worked really well. I just needed to pull the clips far enough up so they didn't fall off. Then I could wind up the window and push them all the way up. Only workfs if you have a flange to attach them to i.e. it;s not rusted off!
