Tigger's Bouncing!!!!

It is a long way for the air to travel, Jules did it but fitted an induction fan to force the air through to the carb(s)
Won't the filter off the end of the flexy tube fit straight onto the carb?

Noteably better cold starting too....it never liked me using any choke, even when the weather was very cold out...more often than not I would have to use the hand over the intake method....fine now though[8D]

No, unfortuanatly the filter Martin uses is way too big.....i guess i could of shortened the hose and remounted the filter roughly where it was originally, but I'd rather stick to what i know works best...never had any problems with the cone filter before, i guess one could argue that it will suck in warmer air as opposed to colder air, but like i say, it works just fine:)

Something a bit odd here Colin, if i am correct in thinking that you just stretched a stocking over the end of the intake, then that will firstly not filter very well and also cause a major restriction as it,s very little area (a couple of sq in) whereas a pleated filter is several sq ft. So you are effectively partially choking it. Which would cause it to draw harder on the jets and run richer. I suspect you may have some carb jets partially blocked.
The 2" ducting will cause some unwanted turbulent drag and is a little bit small, but it,s fairly pointless taking colder air from the front and dumping it into a very overheated inlet manifold [xx(]
If you can strip/check/clean the carb ok then do so. Then try again with the cone :)
P.S can i have the stockings :p;):D

well Tim, you can have one stocking as Mark has claimed the other lol .......as you know Tim I'm not the sharpest tool in the box when we start talking tech....all i know is, it improved things in my experiment.....the new filter should arrive soon and while I'm at it I will clean the jets...it will make a welcome change to be leaning over the engine instead of crawling around underneath.....the stockingidea came from when i was a young lad...we used to use this method on our motorbikes/mopeds ie FSI-E RD50 RD125 RD200 RD250 ...only a temp fitting to Tigger, just thought it better than nowt:)

The vague instructions said to oil the filter before use...I coated it with 20/50...I assume that was the correct course of action?

Errr no it wasn,t :I. Despite what the blurb says they come pre oiled from new. And if you ever do do it,s a specific filter oil, and has to be applied with great care as too much will kill the airflow [xx(]
Not much you can do about it now [B)]

Mr Panky, you read my mind...don't worry it was a thought that crossed my mind but of course i knew it was a bad one:D well it's hanging upside down so hopefully it will drain away by itself...the oil is quick enough to drip out the engine lol:)

Somehow I don't think you will reach the max airflow the filter is capable of anyway;)
