Be my guest[V] Can you fix it back in, the glue must have held it for years - steel stick could do the trick.

I think you should carry on what you are doing lee. Seeing as you have done so much to this engine, at least when you have worked through all the issues, you will have a sound engine that you know has been well sorted. Going down the route of another unknown engine and gearbox might open a whole new can of worms and you'll end up going through the same sh1t all over again. Keep it up!

Just think Lee for all the money you have spent on the dog you could have brought on of these:D LOL

I dropped the fuel pump into a specialist yesterday - just been round for an update.
apart from the bits wrong that were obvious - i.e. the anti stall device being glued in etc there was quite a lot more wrong.

the bearing & consequently the seals for the drive shaft that goes to the engine were shot, the pump had been drawing oil over a long period of time which had destroyed the majority of seals in the pump. Everything is worn to within an inch of its life and a lot of swarf has come from somewhere.

The upshot is, I cant get a decent replacement so am going to have to bite the bullet and get it fully re-furbed

now for the really painful bit............

£438...... im off to sit in a darkened corner sucking my thumb and gently rocking backwards and forwards

unfortunately its not the right type

there are a couple in the states - around 900 bucks for what likes a brand spankers new one, but when you factor in the postage & customs duty your looking at 6-700 quid
