Guys, merry Christmas - I am still alive.

haven't touched the Dog for a few months now - crap weather and all that,

basically everything is ready to go, just need to prove the overhauled fuel pump and re-done head gasket.
I have been so busy with the house renovation in Lincolnshire that the dog has had to be put on a back burner
hopefully when the weather gets better in the spring I will have more to report.

Hi everyone - long time no see etc.

Finally bit the bullet and just spent a sunny morning tinkering.

Finally got round to getting the new fuel pump connected & bled, then put the exhaust back on - and finally the battery.

I barred the engine over by hand to make sure it wasnt seized - it turned over nicely.

crossed my fingers and went for a start..... cranked and cranked and cranked - nothing

tried a squirt of easy start and off it went, quite smoky at first and then it cleared

let the engine run for around an hour - no leaks or overheating, kenlowe fan cutting in and out as required.

took it up and down the lane a couple of times - had forgotten just how crap commer brakes are and how heavy the steering is on a coach built.

revs well, pulls like a train - and no smoke under hard acceleration.

(And now starts on the key immediately each time)

I was just about to go onto the road for a test drive when I remembered tax,mot and insurance ran out a week ago!

will put the engine covers back on and the seats during the week then I suppose I am going to have to make it all road legal again.

That's excellent Lee, I'm glad to hear you've got your mojo back[^] What you need now is a nice leisurely run out to Pandy:)

I am going to need to move the dog to lincolnshire soon - 90 miles, trying to decide if getting it transported will be cheaper than taxing, insuring and MOT'ing

does anyone know of a cheap transporter willing to take a coachbuilt from CM23 1BG to PE12 0BY its 2 & 1/2 ton

ideally I would drive it but transporting may be cheaper and my money pit of a house is taking all my cash at the moment

It may work out a bit cheaper to transport it but it's dead money - once it's gone it's gone. If you MOT tax, and insure then you've got something for your hard earned wad - the joy of driving The Dog 90 miles and 12 months of being able to bugger off whenever you need a break from the house resto:)

"the joy of driving the dog 90 miles"

... i think i need to build confidence in the engine with a few sneaky early morning runs out here in the sticks while no-one is looking

Niggy - lovely to hear from you (I have been in the sun all day with icy cold wine so probably a bit affectionate at the moment)

Hi Lee welcome back glad to hear the Dog is alive & kicking.
As Panky says better putting your money into Tax Mot & Insurance at least it will last 12 months of use out of the Dog [8D] :p

Great to hear a sign of life, Lee :) and good to hear that the Dog is running again.

Get it MOT'd and taxed, and "Live a little" :D Underpowered and "underbraked" it may be, but there is still no experience quite like it. [^]
