BOOO!
Yes thats right, I'm back! And that can only mean one thing, its that time of year when you turn your attention to getting the camper fixed up for the coming season. [8D]
At the end of last year Smurf wasn't in the best of shape, she successfully took my Mum and Dad to Wales and back, but not without a few problems, the dreaded snakeskin reared its ugly head and proceeded to block the fuel pump, lines and the carb, meaning about 10 breakdowns were endured[V][xx(][

!]. Dads taken the plunge and ordered up an new Ali tank, this along with some new fuel lines and a SU fuel pump should ensure reliability over the coming year. I'm still triyng to get him to fit a SU carb but it's proving difficult to convince him....
In the two years since we've had Smurf one thing has always bugged my Dad and I, the peak. It's been steadily rusting away under the high top for the best part of two years, its now getting to the stage where something needs doing or there will be a LOT of work in the future [xx(] So this winter Dads considering whipping the top off and fixing it, the metal work shouldn't be too hard although the chances of getting the High top back on are pretty slim; It'll probably deform during storage and be a real pig to get back on.
So He wants to fit a conventional roof and pop top, but here's the problem, where does one obtain one of these ? It's all pretty tentative at the moment and nothing set in stone, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any ideas on what to do...
On another note, here's the convertible I was welding up last year:
I'm now working on this, a 1950 Morris Minor Lowlight:
It's the rustiest thing I've ever seen [xx(][V]
All the best, Happy Commering
