Another thought, if you modify the wheels will offsetting them inwards, so to speak, interfere with steering/brakes. If not then you could get the wider wheels without increased track.
The nissan front track is only marginally wider. On full lock my white van has about 2" of space between the tyre and the metalwork beneath the door. This is with the wheel pushed up inside the arch.
With the slightly wider Nissan track and also adding, say an inch, to the wheels then I will just about be touching on full lock. The Nissan has an adjustable steering lock stop which is handy so I will set this so it just clears.
I need to revisit this as I have long forgotten the exact measurements.
